Works great but you may need to get new breakers.
    By Bob

    Review Posted 01/15/2013
Comes with quad breaker that is 15-30-30-15. I needed 15's and 20's and needed to expand to 10 ckts so I needed to buy 2 quad breakers in addition to the 60 amp breaker required for the main panel. Installation was easy and it's nice to be able to see the load on each leg using the meters.

    Great Service and Communication !!!!

When I placed the order I was told it was not in stock at the time and they would notify me asap when the parts will ship and did ship. I received an e-mail several days later telling me the expected ship date and time of arrival through tracking numbers. The turn around time was quick and just like the e-mail stated.

Thanks for the great service and communication !!!!

Using This Switch For Utility vs Battery Back-Up
    By John

I like this switch -- suits my 'battery back-up' (for a small cottage residence). HOWEVER -- the left hand watt-meter sticks, and doesn't properly return to zero when everything's off.

Follow Up From March...BIG Nasty Fall Snowstorm/Power Outage
    By Colter
    Falls Village, Connecticut
    Review Posted 11/14/2011
Well...I wrote back in March that I Loved this gen/set, but had never had to use it much. Well, we got hit here in CT a Big Wallop over Halloween weekend. 750k folks w/o power, some for a week and more. 16 inches of tree bustin wet snow...BAM !!..Had just changed the oil on the Winco. Limbs down all around, cut my way out of the driveway 400 feet.

But FIRST...Started the Winco and was worry-free. Funny thing, just last month I had thought to myself "Will this thing EVER get used ?" This unit is 15 years old and has RARELY been used, couple hours here, couple there. Honda motor fired right up on propane and never blinked. Provided power for water pump, hot showers (tankless), light and heat and TV (Dish) for my whole family and friends and neighbors for 10 days. Used about 120 gallons of propane total (including cooking, water heating and furnace).

Bottom line is I learned 2 things. What a perfect sized, reliable, great generator I had AND How to Use it Smartly. Good Unit, Great Price. Good Company. Thanks.

My First Generator & Manual Transfer Switch
    By Reynaldo
    Floral park, New York
    Review Posted 10/07/2011
This was my first generator and first manual transfer switch, I waited a bit long time for the panel because it was on back order. I finally got the panel and it was simple to install. I removed the breakers that came with the panel and installed my own.

The only problem that I had with this panel was with the 3/4 inch flexible plastic conduit that came with the panel,  first off I couldn't attach the conduit to the panel. It was really really hard to attach that to the panel. So hard that I couldn't attach it, and don't let me start on pulling the wires through the conduit. I don't think the company even tried to see if it even fit.

I gave up and ran out and got a 1 inch plastic conduit and elbows, everything fit in beautifully. And even have room to run more wires if I have to. I used that flex conduit for my generator wire coming from my outside outlet box. I had to really fight with that conduit to attach it to the panel. For the amount of money I paid for the panel. You would think they would have gave you the 1 inch conduit. But other then that, the transfer switch works great.

    Good Transfer Switch
    By Gene
    Rockland, New York
    Review Posted 09/21/2011
GenTran 3028 seems to be well made. Hookup is a breeze (as long as you have some sort of electrical understanding of circuit panels). The blue flex conduit is 3 4 inch. The wires are a tight squeeze in it. If you remove the blue flex conduit from the wires, prepare for a struggle to get them all to slide back through without some sort of lube.

I added 2 extra circuits to make it 10 total. That was done by removing the 20amp double pole and replacing it with 4 half sized breakers. If your gonna add the 2 extra circuits, forget about getting those 2 extra wires through the already cramed flex conduit. I added a 2nd flex conduit to house the extra 2 wires. The transfer switch panel is provided with extra knockouts for just such a thing

Overall, increasing the flex conduit to 1inch and a bit more detailed explanations in the manual would be beneficial.
No complaints on the Generator. Works great. Well made. Starts right up. Good fuel use. About avg on the noise level.

    Basic Backup
    By Tim

    Review Posted 12/16/2009
We bought this package to be able to backup basic items around the house during an outage. The whole purchase was flawless from the great price to the free shipping. The Honeywell unit was easy to assemble, owners manual is easy to read and most important it started first time with one push of the electric start button and worked perfectly for the break in period. We also purchased the Gen-Tran transfer switch and a 75' power supply cord which was complete with everything needed to install easily. My goal was to buy products that would allow my wife to operate easily and all of these products did that. Thanks!
