My water softener wash tube discharges into my sump pit. Will the Storm Pro BA Series Pump hold up to the salt water in the pit?
Jim T
from Ohio
January 29, 2014
Answer
The StormPro pumps are actually one of the few pumps that we offer that are designed for saltwater, so you should be fine!

How is a water tight electrical connection made from the float sw to Pump?
Jay Shaffer
from Pennsylvania
July 30, 2012
Answer
Each piece (Pump and float switch) have their own separate power cord. The plug for the float switch is a "piggyback" style plug similar to Christmas Tree lights. You would plug your float switch plug into your electrical outlet and then plug the cord from the pump directly into the "piggyback" outlet from the float switch.

1. What HP do I need for 16 ft lift? 2. Water from the basement is contaminated with with iron oxide looks like red slime. What is the brand or type of sump pump can you recommend? Thanks, Joe

Answer
At 16 feet of lift, pretty much any 1/2HP or greater pump should do the job for you. However, due to the iron oxide contaminated water, the pumps may not last as long as they would under normal water conditions.
Zoeller, StormPro and Pro Series pumps are some of our top brands and based on the water table in your area, I would say to stick with a 1/2HP if you're in a low-medium water table area and a 3/4HP only if your in a high water table area that experiences a lot of potential flooding.

I just purchased the Stormpro BA 75M pump and the plastic flange is broken. Do you have replacement flanges and the gasket?. The flange is for a 2 inch discharge pipe. Thanks, Ron

Answer
Unfortunatley, we do not offer replacement parts. You might however, try calling StormPro tech support at (800) 323-1665, ext.231 for further assistance.

The Stormpro Model BA-75M does this come with a Check Valve? If I am replacing an existing Sump Pump can I use the existing check valve of my Sump Pump to install a new Stormpro Model BA-75M?

from New Jersey
October 16, 2011
Answer
The StormPro model BA-75M as with all of our sump pumps, does not come with a check valve. It is always recommended to change out the check valve when replacing a pump.

Can you tell me wjhat are the start up and running wattage of the 1/2 and 3/4 StormkPro. I need those reqiurements in order to size my stand-by generator. Thanks

Answer
Unfortunately, we only list the running amps (BA-33M - 4.5 amps and BA-50M - 5.8 amps). You might try calling StormPro tech support at (800) 323-1665 x231
for the starting amp ratings.

I currently have a 1/3 hp Hydromatic Pentair Water sump pump that the builder put in about 2 years ago. It almost was overwhelmed a few times over the past two years. With the heavy rains in PA this spring my basement flooded twice as the pump could not handle the water intake during the storms. In addition I have a high water table. Would you recommend a bump up to this 3/4 hp beast? I want to make sure that I am doing everything I can to prevent a future flooded basement.

Answer
You have a few options. 1. You might want to consider adding a battery backup system. These systems will not only work during power outages to provide extra security but will also kick in when your primary pump is unable to keep up with the incoming rush of water. 2. Adding a second primary pump with a the float switch set at a higher level than your main pump. Note that you would need to get a pump with a "piggyback" style switch such as the StormPro BA series pumps that can be attached to the discharge and set at any height. 3. Bump up to a 1/2HP primary pump. Going from a 1/3HP to a 3/4HP is too large of a jump and would cause issues such as cycling too often and shortening the life of the pump. Bigger is not always better when it comes to sump pumps.
One last option might be to have a UTILITY pump to handle situations where heavy rains can cause a possible flooding situation.

This StormPro model BA-75M would do the job for you. This model will pump about 2400 GPH at 25 feet of head.

High water table basement. In heavy rains, I sometimes need to use two 1/2 HP sump pumps to handle flow. Would this be a good primary pump or should I use a sewage pump?
Jim
from Illinois
March 14, 2011
Answer
Sewage pumps should not be used in a sump pit. The pump you inquired about should work fine for your application.

How does the sump pump connect to the independent float switch, Does the pump plug into the switch and the switch plugs into the power?
Mark
from New Jersey

Answer
Yes, most external float switches utilize this design. It's consider a "Piggyback" style plug. Very similar to how sets of Christmas lights connect to each other.

Hi Jim. I know the float can be attached to discharge line. I'm wondering what the maximum On/Off points are. Looking to figure out how many inches of water will be pumped out per cycle. Thanks.
Charlie
from New York
January 05, 2011
Answer
The on/off differential for the float switch is about 6.5".
