Broken After One Day
By Dave M.
Pennsylvania
Review Posted 10/29/2024
It broke after the first day of use. A hole developed in the pump. Had to take it to a service center. They have had it over 6 weeks now. Pressure Washer Direct keeps sending them the wrong part. Have no idea when we will get it. Do not buy this product.

Business Nightmare

Our company had big hopes for this washer. On our first use several o rings immediately blew apart and water leaked from any area with a connection. The pump blew a hole on the fourth use and now shoots water out of the metal part of the pump. Extremely unreliable. The integrity of the metal was compromised by the machine itself. This has been a very large inconvenience for our company and we hope to be able to return this machine. We will be taking the machine in for a Hydrostatic Proof Test at a metallurgical laboratory. We believe this machine has several manufacturer defects including the pump.

Excellent Washer

I am just getting my pressure washing business ramped up, and I wanted a quality machine to begin with. The Simpson WB 4200 is it. The Honda motor (of course) cranked with the first pull of the string. The washer has all the power you will ever need and runs pretty quietly. The belt drive will make sure the pump lasts longer, and will also draw water from a trailer mounted tank without gravity. You can tell this thing is built "hell for stout" with heavy duty wheels/tires/frame. It is certainly not the lightest piece of equipment, but it is mobile and solid. I don't necessarily want the lightest piece of equipment, as it is often the cheapest made. The only thing this is missing is a mount for your gun and hanger for the hose. However, with this being a professional machine, it is understandable since these items are likely carried on a trailer with you, or in a truck. I paired this with General Pump's Hammerhead surface cleaner, and the results on my sidewalk and driveway are incredible. Had an issue with the lance upon fitting it up and using the first time, but PWD made good on that. Excellent product/performance/service.

Works Well, Gun Is Of Low Quality

Nice washer but the gun itself is of poor quality. I have tightened but still leaks. This replaced one that was 10 years old and like everything else out there, they don't make them like they use to. We will need to replace the gun soon but rest of unit seems it will hold up.

Received the pressure washer in a box in a tractor as you advised..the pressure washer is completely assembled.
I had to buy some some speed connects for the wand. Put in oil that was included and added fuel and as usual with one of those dependable Honda motors pulled the cord a couple of times and she fired right up.
I have several power washers both cold water and hot water but they do not compare to the U.S.-made belt powered power washers. The only bad thing is I do not have funds to buy another one at this time.
Power Washers Direct did all that they promised and am very pleased with my American made Simpson power washer !!!

An Awesome Pressure Washer

I love it. More power than I need and the pressure reducer makes that variable need for pressure available with the turn of knob. I only wish I had known it was available with an electric start. The kickback can sometimes be impressive. If I can get the electric start as an additional add on I will get it and I suggest that anyone buying this product does the same. Other than that it delivers great water pressure and runs smoothly.
I have mounted it to my pickup that has a bed slide. That makes the reel and the 4200 readily easy to get to. It is far to heavy to lug around.
I wish there was a pressure unloader valve that I could operate from the unit. Right now I have to release the pressure from the wand.
I did have an issue with the soap injection valve and have plugged that in favor of a downstream injection system.

You may want to give the folks at Simpson a call at 877-362-4271 to see if your unit can be retro-fitted with an electric starter. There are aftermarket electric starters on the market, but you need to make sure you choose one that is compatible with your engine.

Does The Job

I bought this unit as an addition to my other pressure washer that I use as a back up at my presently fledgling part-time business, and it does a superb job cleaning concrete and wooden decks alike.
The only issue I had was, when I received the unit, I noticed that the label affixed to the frame stated that the triplex pump was 3.5 GPM instead of the advertised 4.0 GPM. I then contacted PressureWashersDirect and had kind of a hiccup in getting a response from them.
It took the representative three emails from me for him to get me the information about the discrepency on the GPM. I did however get a response that the "Rated" maximum GPM was 4.0 and not 3.5.....being a non-technical pump person, I still don't understand this, but oh well.
It gets the job done and performs adequately, so if somehow I got cheated .5 GPM, that's okay because what goes around comes around. Despite this tiny issue, I would still highly recommend this unit to my friends and others.

I apologize, Simpson was looking into this. At this time they are moving their facilities, which is the reason it took them 3 business days to get back to me. Again, I apologize for the delay, but the pump is rated for 4.0 GPM.

Hi Bill,
What's the real difference between the Simpson Professional 4200 PSI P.W. and the Pressure Pro 4000 P.W. Also, why is a belt driven engine pump combination better than direct attachment? Thanks! V/r Les
