Reliance Controls 30-Amp (120/240V 1-Circuit) Outdoor Transfer Switch
Product QuestionsAnswered by Jared, the Generator Expert
Can the cover be locked? I've looked for pictures on line but am unable to find any with sufficient detail of the latch. I'd like to use a small lock (think luggage lock) on the latch in order to keep curious children...or adults for that matter, from being able to open it.
Thank you,
Tracy

Answer
The model CSR302 is designed to power one appliance/circuit and not used as a main to feed an entire panel.
You will need to find out what your mainline breaker size is to determine the correct size transfer switch needed.
The most common incoming amperage size is 200A and the most popular 200A outdoor manual transfer switch is model TWB2005DR.
It is best to consult with a certified electrician to confirm the correct switch for your application.

Will this work for connecting to 30 amp dryer circuit, backfed to 100 amp panel? I have a 7500 watt generator for emergency power outage and only use about once a year.

Answer
This switch is "Not" designed to back feed into your electrical service. It is extremely dangerous to back feed into your homes electrical panel even if you cut off the main breaker. You could easily kill a line worker.
This switch is designed to be connected to one circuit breaker.
To properly connect to your electrical service you should go through a 30A manual transfer switch with properly disconnects you from your electrical service.
Will this work for a residence? I am only looking to put the transfer switch inline between the meter and the main panel. Would like the ability to switch to a generator feed during power outages (turning off most breakers and only using essentials. I have a 7500 watt generator with 2 30amp plugs
Thanks

Answer
This specific transfer switch is not designed or large enough to be mounted between the meter and your existing main breaker. You would need to look at the manual transfer panels we offer which is based on the amperage size of your incoming feed from the utility company. (100A or 200A)
