Terrible Craftsmanship

Looks like an amateur welded unit. Blobs of weld, uneven spacing of welds, the seam sticks out and dosent come together smooth causing a bump every rotation. Cheap bearings, too short of attachment arm. Very disappointed. Plus had to wait a month for delivery. Here's how I improved my unit. Welded on longer attachment arm, cut off pin hole and welded an actual ball hitch on. Removed cheap bearings and welded additional arms for 2 bolt greasable flange bearings. It's now easier pulling and quieter/smoother. At my cost of course.

I have had this roller for a few years and I had to weld every seam and end plates on this roller. Now this year, the end plates are buckling out. I cannot use it no longer. This thing has been nothing but problems. It is junk.

Received roller on a Friday, unpacked it on Saturday, discovered a part was missing. Contacted Mowers Direct on Monday, they said Ohio Steel would either contact me or ship the part directly to me. Three weeks today, I have not heard or seen anything from anybody.

I mow 8 acres, assembled unit did a test run 3/4 full of water plug came out 2 times and leaked if i didn't keep water fill hole up when parked. After 1st run re tightened all bolts replaced plug with rubber plug from hardware store that is correct size. I have used this unit 5 or 6 times and had to toughen up bolts after each use, finally tack welded side arms to draw bar. This is a 64 inch unit 1150# $465 to $550 unit shipped

Sorry to hear about the issues you had. The wrong size plug may have been an error from the manufacturer. Please keep in mind that this roller is designed for residential applications. If you're mowing 8-acres, you might want to consider upgrading to some commercial/AG grade equipment when you need to replace.

It was fine the first time I rolled the lawn this year. The 2nd time I used it this year It started leaking around the left bearing end. I need to go get it welded because it is a major leak. Also, the seam where the rolled cylinder is welded is a terrible butt weld. I would have expected 100% penetration along that seam but you can see the edges of the steel along the butt weld. I assume that will start leaking soon, so when I get the end leak welded I will run a weld bead along the cylinder seam also. I read reviews clear back to 2011 and some complained about the roller leaking after just a couple of uses. I assumed that 6 years later you would have improved the welding of your lawn rollers. I am a pipe welder by trade (40 yrs.). I would be embarrassed to ship something that has visible bad welds. The only reason I accepted the delivery is because I am a welder and figured I could repair it if it leaked. It is so disheartening to see something made in America put together so poorly.
