Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
can this be mounted horizontally?
Frank
from New Jersey
December 29, 2011
Answer
It’s not the best way. It really depends on the amount of head they you have above the check valve on the vertical run but it’s still going to be prone to leaking. The KCV check valve isn’t spring loaded so the only thing that will keep the valve closed is the water above it so if it’s horizontal, it’s possible that the water won’t keep it shut and therefore cause it to leak. Sometimes it does work but usually it’ll be intermittent.

If I got three (3) of the "Klunkless Check Vavles", could I put one on my sewage line, one on the main pump and one on my backup pump?
TONY DUFFIE
from Indiana
January 09, 2011
Answer
This valve is perfect to use on your sump lines because it can accommodate up to 1-1/2" discharge pipes.
For sewage pumps, this check valve will not work because sewage discharge pipes are 2" or larger.

This check valve can't be used with sewage pumps. The maximum size pipe this valve can handle is 1-1/2".
