Troy-Bilt TB516EC Reviews & Ratings
Bought 2 with the same problem

I purchased this edger at Lowe's, got it home and it wouldn't stay running. I returned it and got the next model up and after a few months it quit running too.
I took it back and got the smaller model (again) and it ran great for about 8 months and now I'm back to where I began.
It will not keep running. I returned it to Lowe's and sent it out for repair. The repair shop said it has clutch problems and they had t order parts to fix it. Is there a problem with quality control at Troy-Bilt?

Just returned mine, BIG disappointment

Bought it in June, used for several months and was going to dump it in a garage sale. It never cut a nice clean edge. Blade turns backwards, find it cut better when you pulled it toward you rather than pushing it forward. And then to get a better edge, found I had to tip it up as I was pulling it back. Then had to stop every few feet, use a weed tool to clean the wheels and up under the plastic blade protection/housing. HUGE disappointment in my first Troy-Bilt. At 200 bucks, it should cut a decent edge without problems.

Very satisfied with the edger. It's light weight and easy to use. Very little assembly required to put it into operation. I would advise buying the separate electric starter for an even easier start, although the unit starts very easy with the pull cord.

This thing is a complete piece of junk.I have owned two. The first one blew the engine after 1 year and it would cost more to repair than to buy a new one. I bought a second one and I didn't get 50 feet before smoke started to roll out of it.The repair shop said the belt burned out. I live in a subdivision neighborhood and don't have a lot of heavy grass to cut, so stay away from this thing.

Ok but......

Just used my new Troy-Bilt. Blade rotation seems backwards to me. Bogged down when met with some over growth. Seems to have done an ok job, but it kinda chewed through rather than cut. Hmmm, kinda nervous about this product. Lots of vibration too.
