Amazing Mower
By Rick
Ohio
Review Posted 08/27/2022
To all the people who are giving this mower a bad review, this is an amazing mower. I never had any problems with it. I did have to replace the belt after 6 years of ownership, other than that it runs like a charm and still does. Just mowed with it today.

I purchased this mower two years ago. Although easy to drive and use, the foot brake is hard if you're a short person. I'm 5' so in stretching to use it, the seat tips forward which then shuts off the mower.

It cuts great, turning, backing and using the lever was all simple.

However and here's my downfall on the mower, Within a month when backing up the mower would stall, even though it was in the position for reverse. The light wouldn't come on so internally it wasn't in position to go in reverse while blades are turning. My husband was able to fix it.

By the next summer, (1 year after purchase) one of the spindles broke, we don't mow rocks. Another fix.

By this summer, July (2 years after purchase) the pully broke, got it fixed and the carburetor broke, waited two weeks to get it fixed and then the engine blew up. That was the last straw since it's out of warranty and I can't afford to put more money into something that just keeps breaking down.

For the money it's not worth it.

We have 2-3 acres of flat grass that gets mowed. It wasn't abused by no means, had oil changes, filters replaced, washed. It was an investment so yes it was taken care of but such a disappointment.

I gave the features 3 stars because it is an average mower. The quality is poor with all the issues we've had. Performance while running was good, typical mower with 46" cut. The value however I gave a low score because for the price we paid I expected it to last more then 2 years. The cost of an engine repair is the same as buying a new mower.

I will not buy another Troy Bilt or mower with Kohler engine.

Brake pedal design for over 6 ft person so reaching full stop for short people impossible since seat likes to tip due to incline of mount. Removing hand from steering to slow or stop in a turn is not what I call safe for weaker persons. Maybe a foot pedal would have been a better design since most of that assembly is on right side of machine. The NTSB requires headlamps to remain on, why this machine. I have no reason to have on highway after dark, unless getting beer. Maybe you should try again and ask the consumer what is needed because you didn't provide that here. Poor thought for a Troy-Bilt label. Mower good if you can control it!@@

Bad deal
By Bill Wilson

Review Posted 09/16/2014
I recently purchased one of these mowers from Lowes. The first time I used it, it threw the drive belt. It did this twice before I gave in and sent it to a warranty repair center. They repaired it by replacing both belts but billed me for $136.00, telling me that Troy-Bilt would reimburse me for the charges.

I called the Troy-Bilt factory trying to get an explanation but all they would tell me was that they would call the warranty repair center and get back to me. I'm still waiting. I have had nothing but trouble out of this machine. I took my complaints to Lowes and, to their credit, they took the mower back and gave me my money back.

Streched Cable Deck Engagement
By Bruno P.

Review Posted 07/26/2014
I used it all last season I love this mower. Just not happy with the cable to engage belts, it has no adjustment on length of cable. My cable stretched this season it will not engage need to buy new one, geesh guys! I just removed the whole deck and replaced the belt thinking it was the belt that stretched since the cable is a fixed length but not so . I will rig the cable to be shorter . But its a beast otherwise.

Works great!!
By Terry R.

Review Posted 05/30/2014
I read the other reviews and think that the reviewers must be totally inept. This mower works just fine. Plenty of power....cuts clean...

And whats the big deal about changing a belt? Belts break. Fact of life. Changing them is simple..thoughtless.

For 1,400 bucks you cannot do better.

WE are becoming a wussified society....incapable in general.

When the drive belt breaks, you are stuck. Then you have to worry about loading the mower on a truck, taking it to the shop, waiting for them to put a new belt on, and your out money. The design makes it impossible to change the belt yourself without special tools/knowledge.
