More than Just a Mower

Increase your versatility and maximize time savings with additional attachments.

Toro TimeCutter mowers are the only zero turn mowers with a Smart Speed® Trim & Tow mode. Along with the standard hitch, you can now tow pull-behind attachments with the speed and precision control they were designed for.

Happy Customer

I was a little anxious about purchasing this type of equipment online. Typically I like to get my hands on something of this nature prior to paying for it. So this transaction was a little out of my comfort zone.

My worries were unfounded however because everything was exactly as presented. The mower showed up on time and was REALLY well packed. The hardest part was getting it out of the crate, but after that a few small connections and one turn of the key and it fired right up.

Could not be happier with this transaction or with the Toro mower.

My first rider

Needed a rider when we moved into 5 acre property last June. Had hired someone for $200 to mow and trim and he was the lowest price I had gotten. Within 2 weeks it was long overdue for another cut. Got the SS5060 after reading several reviews.

The biggest initial problem was with the uncrating. Perhaps some instructions would help for future purchasers. Overall machine starts reliably and cuts well as long as the grass doesn't get over 5 inches. I have found that he cut grass springs up and I need to make another pass.

I typically cut it at 3 inches. Cleaning the top of the deck is another challenge, so perhaps I need to use a pressure washer. There are times when I can't completely clean the top. Overall, I should have bought one with a larger cutting path. 50" is too small for 5 acres. It takes almost 4-5 hours, but part of that is cutting around 2 acres of the fenced in pasture.

Pulley bearing failure
By John B.

Review Posted 10/10/2014
I purchased a ss5060 zero turn mower in may of 2012 from an on-line dealer. After 2 seasons of use, an idler pulley seized and destroyed itself taking out the belt in the process. I took the deck in to the local authorized dealer for what appeared to me to be an obvious warranty repair. I was shocked to find that the dealer could refuse to do the work if the mower was not bought at his store. He looked at the pulley that failed and all the other pulleys and said that they all were damaged by water.

I have followed the instructions for care and maintenance of the mower deck in the owners manual to he letter and yet the dealer said it was my fault and warranty would not apply. Calls to warranty at Toro resulted in a "goodwill" offer to supply the parts but I would have to pay the labor costs and have them installed by the dealer which exceeded the cost of the parts. End result was no "warranty" due to water damage. If you follow the owners manual instructions for cleaning the deck after each use you will always get water on the deck. I am at a loss as how to prevent this "water damage from recurring due to the design of the deck. Very frustrating experience.

The dealer made the determination that it was water damage that caused the failure because the deck looked like new after 2 seasons use and I quote "you washed it too much". Has anyone else suffered the same experience? I would sure like to know. Love the mower but would never buy another based on the Toro warranty policy.

As good as I expected.

After reading reviews and checking specs on mowers from probably 20 websites, I decided to go with the Toro SS5060. It seemed to be what I need, and for the right price.

I have used the mower 4 times so far, and I've been totally satisfied. I have a 4-acre yard that I mow weekly. It had previously taken me 3-3 1/2 hours to do the job. This mower has cut the job down to about 2 hours.

My yard is not even close to being level, but the mower has handled it well. The cut, to this point, is better that the previous 3 tractor mowers that I've used. I am hopeful that the mower will continue to cut this well for years to come.

I love this mower. Maintenance is easy and it mows like a dream. Should have bought one sooner. Mow about an acre or more and driving around trees and stuff is easy.

Big Time Saver

Delivery was great. Driver helped me open box & set it up for my height. Steering took some practice to get the feel of it. Driver even waited for me to practice driving some & took away all the box debris!

Mowing my yard used to take over 2 hours with push mower (about 2-1/2 hrs). Now it takes about 20 minutes and it goes so close to the edges that I only need another 5 minutes to push mow or weed eat the boundary spots around the shed & house.
What a great difference.

Only problem I've had is running too fast over bumpy ground which caused 2 flat tires in 3 seasons of mowing. I'm a little more careful now & have not had the flat problem this current season at all.

This is the best mower my husband has ever owned, he constantly talk's about it. My husband said he love's his old mower's JohnDeere's and one Troy-Bilt, but nothing, nothing handle's, cut's like the Toro Timecutter SS5060.

Everything I expected and more!

Had the mower off the pallet and running within an hour from the time the truck driver set it on the ground. I had somewhat of a learning curve to get over with steering and general operation but felt comfortable with it after about an hour of cutting. To date, I have cut a 4 acre yard with it twice. I now understand why they are so popular. It is amazingly agile and quick.

I am absolutely happy with it and wish I had bought one sooner.

Saved at least 30% buying from Mowers Direct vs local dealer. Arrived as advertised, easily unpacked, definitely need fork lift or truck with lift gate, added gas, checked oil, connected battery and she fired right up. Have used once to mow 2+ acres and mower performed as expected. Only time will tell about durability.
