Reviewing My Toro Snow blowers
By Gary H.

Review Posted 01/28/2019

I have purchased four new Toro's since the 1970s and they have only gotten better throughout the years I have also picked up several used Toro's in the past, my opinion is they are by far the best machine on the market today. Well built with heavier gauge steel used in their construction. The Quick Stick Chute Control is flawless and fast, a plus when it is windy and you need to change throwing direction. Keep them cleaned off each season and touch up the chipped paint and they will last for years.

Toro Power Max 1128 OXE: Total Failure at Removing Snow.
By Russell J.

Review Posted 01/24/2017
My Toro Power Max 1128 OXE came with the house I bought 5 years ago. My Toro snow blower will not remove snow that is the least bit wet. It clogs easily and will not remove wet snow nor slush. The impeller freezes against the metal housing after a short period of use. If I use anything beyond # 1 speed setting it can not digest the snow causing a system wide blockage.
My wife boiled water on a constant basis to pour down the shoot and thaw the ice between the back of the housing and impeller. I would not recommend this snow blower to my worst enemy. This year we have had a lot of snow these past two weeks and on several occasions I tried to use this snow blower in 4-6 inches of snow and it wasn't up to the task.
I had modified the impeller with stiff rubber to scrape the housing as prior to this modification ice would build up between the impeller blades and the metal housing surrounding the impeller blades. I also boosted the engine speed as it ran so slow to be even more worthless than it is post modifications. I even have tried different sprays to help lubricate the augers, impeller, and shoot to little avail. Short of boosting the horse power, nothing much helps.

I purchased this snowblower 2 yrs ago and have not had one problem. It powers thru the snow effortlessly. We have had a lot of snow in the last 2 yrs and I am so happy I purchased this GREAT machine.
Original shear pins! Only thing I had to do was change the oil. I am going purchase another Toro but this time the 928.

Great Machine but factory assembly incomplete
By Kirk C.

I've had my eye on this machine for a couple years and finally pulled the trigger. I was looking for the spring loaded scraper blade and a couple inches wider to clean my corner lot side walks in two versus 3 or 4 passes. The added power of the bigger engine is a bonus.
While opening the packaging, I found a loose nut in the bottom of the box. With that in mind I was looking for where it might have come from. I found that one of the bolts mounting the discharge chute to the impeller housing was short a nut but also found the three other nuts were never tightened. The assembly went well and the directions were clear and it was up and running in a little over an hour.
The auger and drive controls are reverse from my previous machine so that is taking a little getting used to. The return springs for the levers is stronger so it requires more effort to apply and hold. The turning clutch levers for the wheels work well although they feel like a bit of a reach for a gloved hand. The engine starts quickly and is smother and more quiet than my previous 8.5hp.
We had an early 8in heavy wet snow in November so its first time out it was sloppy and I expected to have it plug with the slush but I was pleasantly surprised that it cleared it with ease. The chute and deflector controls work great and the deflector locks in where you set it. The snow plows left the typical piles where the walk meets the street and it pushed through with little effort. The spring loader scraper worked well as expected cleaning down to the concrete and tripping up over a couple of edges where the previous machine would snag to a halt. When fully loaded with snow it will throw 40ft.

R&L Shipping...
By Philip

5 years ago, I bought a Toro zero turn riding mower from this company and they used R&L shipping to deliver that 600 lb. beast.
Now, I just received my new Toro PM HD 1128 OHXE a few minutes ago, and although I haven't even removed the strapping from the box, I wanted to chime in with a comment about R&L since they sometimes get a bad rap in user comments.
BOTH times that R&L has shipped to me (today and 5 years ago) they have performed admirably. I got my ZTR three days after I ordered it, and I just got my snow thrower in only TWO days, without requesting expedited shipping! Both times the drivers were amazing, like loving family members. No fuss, no huff and puff, no attitude about my driveway not being quite right or the street was a bit narrow for the truck. One big pleasant smile after the other. I tipped both drivers royally for their fabulous service.
Their dispatch phone line was surprisingly down to earth, smart, informative, and responsive. Can't do better than that. The guy showed up within THREE MINUTES of the scheduled delivery time!
Bottom line, do NOT be concerned about PED's choice of R&L. Both times the boxes didn't even have a scuff, smudge, or dent. They looked like they just came out of the factory, and they were handled like newborn babies by the delivery guys.
Well done, Power Equipment Direct!!!

Great Unit
By Gene

Review Posted 08/20/2015
I just sold my Toro 1028 to a friend after 7 years of maintenance free running. I just bought the Toro 1128 and it was delivered and put in my garage just 3 days after I ordered it. I had the unit unboxed and built in 1/2 an hour. The engine sounds great and it should move a lot of snow like my 1028 did. I bought this unit in August as I see a lot being sold out due to the massive winter we had. I can't say I am looking forward to winter but I will be ready with the Great Toro reputation.
