  5 Questions
Q: Does the TimeMaster 30" mower have the same plastic gears in the rear drive wheels similar to the 22" mulching machines? Thank you.

by Andy from New York on May 06, 2016

A: Andy - the gear pinion (part #110-9417) on the Toro TimeMaster mowers is made of metal.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: What is the difference between Personal Pace and Self Propelled?
by Steve Brasington from South Carolina on April 09, 2015

A: Steve - Toro's "Personal Pace" system is one type of self-propelled drive system on a walk behind mower. The Personal Pace self-propel system automatically adjusts the speed of the mower to your walking speed. With a normal self-propelled system, the speed of the mower is controlled with a bail, a lever or some other mechanical means.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: What is the maximum cutting height? My fescue grass needs to be kept tall, especially in the summer. Thanks.
by Steve from Georgia on July 12, 2014

A: Steve - the max mowing height on the Toro 20199 is 4"
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Can you get this mower with swivel wheels in front and also a stripper? Please reply.
by Larry Alsleben from Minnesota on March 09, 2013

A: Larry - the Toro TimeMaster does not have a front swivel wheel option. As for a lawn striper, this is what you would need: lawn striper
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: RE: Toro 20200: Can this unit be operated without the bag in place? How is it delivered, what is owner set-up involve? Thanks.
by Derek Braybrooks from South Carolina on May 29, 2012

A: Derek - yes, the Toro TimeMaster mower can either discharge the clippings or mulch the clippings without the bagger being attached - just like a standard 21" mower. This mower would be delivered in it's shipping carton via a semi truck to your home or business. Assembly is very simple. Fold up and tighten the handle, attach the bagger if you want to bag, add oil and gas, and start mowing.

Toro Timemaster® (30")(2016 Model) Excellent Value & Toro Warran
I have a one-man lawn maintenance company in a college town and bought this mower to improve my margin and efficiency mowing small yards (mow path 30in v. 21in). I understand this is the Residential model but I am familiar with Toro quality and their adaptation of the ExMark commercial model (I bought a Wheel Horse tractor right after Toro bought W H so this is a similar circumstance).

The mower arrived needing a minor warranty fix, no fault of PED, and this was done quickly without drama... more

Best Push Mower I Have Ever Used
Love my Toro!! Usually takes me 1 hour 15 minutes to mow, weed eat, and blow my 1/2 acre property, with the Toro wide area push mower with personal pace self propelled system finished in 45 minutes.

One part of my yard in the far back was done in 3 minutes flat, and is about 1/5 of the whole yard. I would recommend this mower to anyone with a 1/3 acre to 1 acre yard, and anyone that wants a solid wide area push mower to compliment their landscaping business!!

The mowing only took about... more

Great Time Saver
Not the most reliable, but when they are running WOW do they speed up the mow time. I own 3 for a small landscaping company. Two had the bolts holding the engine to the deck fall out the first day out of the box.

Obviously Toro didn't tighten these down. The third I purchased at a later date and made sure to since all the nuts before use. Other than that issue, these are fantastic mowers. Practically half the time I spend at a job.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Quality Control by Toro

Tried 2 Mowers Poor Product
Really liked all the features. Everything seemed to work great, started first pull, bagged great, engine never bogged down, cut the grass very well. The only problem was it wouldn't pull itself. First mower used about 5 times, completely quit pulling, sounded like the gears we're ripping out of it. Took it back to Home Depot, no problem gave me new one. I figured it was just a lemon. Used the second mower 4 times got so weak even on a very slight incline had to push. This mower is very heavy.... more

We are sorry to hear you are having problems with your Toro mower.

Toro has added a traction assist handle as a standard option to assist the personal pace system with tackling larger hills and slopes. You can also order the traction assist handle as a individual part to add to your existing mower.

Underpowered And Broke After 6th Use!
I bought this unit with reservations about the power due to reviews about it. I thought maybe these people didn't know what they were doing and probably cutting wet high grass commercially. Well, they were RIGHT! This mower IS very underpowered!

I mean forget about cutting wet grass at all, and tall grass, HA HA. I keep my yard manicured and it's only 100X105 feet. I started to cut grass today and guess what! The cable that engages the blades broke! They made the end on the handle out... more

The Best Machine I've Ever Owned
I bought a Toro 20199 last season from my local dealer because I wanted the ability to return it and cancel the credit card payment should the machine turn out to be a piece of junk as others have stated.

What I found is this:
It will mulch cut tall “wet grass” 8 – 10 inches on the high deck setting with ease with a little bogging. There will be clumps that can be dispersed with a blower. It wont bag or side discharge because the deck ports get plugged with the “wet grass”. Also on “wet... more

Toro 2012 Timemaster 30" Mower Worst Mower I Have Owned!
Spent $1000 on a Toro TimeMaster 30" mower because of width of cut and faster cut time. It has turned out to be the worst lawn mower I have ever owned. Only positives are that it handles really well and is fast.

Negatives are the design of blades and housing creates so much clogging under the deck that it affects the cut (uneven cut) plus it leaves grass cow patties all over the lawn. The lawn conditions have to be perfect for this to work very minimal grass height and no wetness... more

What A Step Up......
I don't have a huge yard but I have been cutting it with a 22" Craftsman mower. I had been that guy who would buy a low end push mower and wear it out after 4-5 years.....then buy another one. Decided it was time to upgrade but really wanted to concentrate on getting a wider mower with a little more power. I have a very lush Fescue lawn and always seems like my grass grows overnight in the Spring and honestly need to mow every 2-3 days. Had my Timemaster delivered yesterday and was... more

Perfect Mower For A Woman
I'll have to say that after reading all the negative reviews on this product, I almost was swayed in the direction of not buying it. Being a woman and not having the strength of a man, my concerns were the starting it up, weight, maneuverability, and problems stated in reviews with powering up a hill. I visited my local Toro dealer to see/try the product in person and felt better about the purchase right away. After using the product, I have to say that I experienced no problems with... more

Nothing But Problems!!!
I wanted a little larger mower for my lawn service and didn't want to spend $3,000 on a big mower so I got the Toro 30" mower for $1,000 from a local dealer who recommended it.

It was fast, but thats about it. Like other reviews say, good luck going up a slight incline. If u do, it starts to smoke. Tall grass...NO. Don't even try cutting it.

Then the self propel went out. Dealer fixed it then it did it again. The self propel went out 4 times within 3 months of purchase!! Took 1 month... more

Mike,
This mower was built for homeowner use. Toro sells a 30" commercial mower for well below $3,000 and you may consider this mower for your future heavy duty applications.

Every so often self propel cables need to be adjusted to ensure the drive system works correctly. The traction adjustment knob provides a simple way to adjust the cable to make your mower more responsive or less responsive.

If you are still experiencing issues with your Toro mower, please bring your unit to the nearest dealer for servicing. Please call our customer service number if you have any other questions (888) 384-9939 (toll free).
