Revolv RG1 A good standard furnace for Mobile Homes
By Keri R.
Worth, Illinois
Purchased 05/20/2019 |
Review Posted 06/10/2019
This furnace, the Revolv RG1 - 56k BTU is suitable for most single-wide mobile homes and is a nearly direct replacement for earlier Coleman furnaces, requiring little or no rework to make it fit.
The reason is simple Revolv RG1 is the successor to the Revolv DGAA series, and the earlier Coleman DGAT, so things like chimney position (roof jack) and duct connection are very close.
Installation was the matter of a few hours, with the burner already set pretty close and the fan speeds set at the best speed already for a 14'x60' home.
The RG1 features a new heat exchanger, apparently an evolution of the DGAA, which itself was a major redesign of the DGAT. It is still a drum type, but has several flue pipes in the airstream, instead of the traditional side flue.
It is too soon to tell as heating season is over, but the RG1 should have lower fuel bills if it is used to replace a DGAT (late '90s - 2000s) or older furnace.
The RG1 has a good metal door for filter access, with a metal turn knob to release, without any plastic clips to break off. The filter itself is the take it out and wash it style, no provision is made for disposable furnace filters.
All in all, the inexpensive RG1 should be a reliable performer though not the most efficient.
