Runs great if you adjust the carburetor
By Thomas S.

Review Posted 09/03/2016
My trimmer ran great for a week but then would not idle and hard to start. I adjusted both carburetor set screws by turning them counter clockwise with a very small screw driver 3/4 turn. It now starts and runs great. And will start with one pull when warm. Poor set up at factory.

Remington needs adjustment
By Noel M.

Review Posted 09/03/2016
Like many of the forum reviews, my Remington weed eater would not throttle up and consequently would not cut grass very well out of the box. I went online to see how to adjust the carburetor and now it is a grass-a-holic. I am not kidding, it is maniacal. I do not understand why Remington allowed it to come out of the factory so far out of adjustment. I promise if you will go to youtube and google 2-cycle carburetor adjustment you will see a world of difference. Remington needs to put that information in their owners manual so people will not be displeased and write these terrible reviews.

Pros:
Price, Features, Reliable, Cuts Like Crazy
Cons:
Bad Instructions, Carburetor Badly Out Of Adjustment Upon Arrival
Doesn't run well enough to turn trimmer head

Purchased the trimmer new (at a Home Hardware store I believe in) and have used it three times. From day 1, the trimmer is barely able to spin up to full RPMs.

The only way is to leave on almost full choke and sllloooowwwwllly open throttle. And then it only runs this way for a short period of trimming. And yes, it is proper fuel mix ratio!

Long story short, this trimmer is going for scrap and will spend extra to get a reliable machine.

My advice...Save your money and skip this model.

Pros:
Price, Light Weight
Cons:
Low Quality, Unreliable
Lousy Worthless Problematic Trimmer!

Like others, bought mine a year ago- worked great the first couple of times to trim grass, then nothing but problems. I first cleaned, then replaced the spark plug used new gasoline in proper gas/oil mix, Would not start, until after 20 to 30-plus pulls, sometimes would start and run rough, but would not keep running for more than a few seconds. When running, even after several seconds (a rare exception) it runs rough/ sputters, and stalls if given more gas. And will not re-start readily once it stalls. Tried to start with starter fluid-- didn't help nor did adjusting the needle valve. Remington string trimmer looks great, but doesn't work worth a damn-- terrible design and a real piece of $100 junk.

Spend The Extra Money

Worked great for a year. I have a small yard, so I went with the cheaper trimmer. Starts up and dies. Tried everything. It did work well for a year.

Some as most home use trimmers
By Max W.

Review Posted 05/04/2016
I got it for a back up trimmer . I do lawn care . I think most of the bad reviews are because the carburetor on most home use 2 cycle equipment needs to be fine tuned right from the box . It does require special tools . I had mine done after 1 tank of gas . Runs and starts like a champ .

Garbage
By Bobby C.

Review Posted 04/16/2016
Bought this trimmer from Menards and it worked great once. It will only run on half choke when it actually does run. Constantly dies. None of the warranty places in the manual would touch it. Going to sit it out with the trash on Tuesday.

One Year Max
By Jerry

Review Posted 07/11/2015
Bought in spring of '14 and it worked enough to get me through the season. Now in '15 the gas oil mix is correct, tried a new plug, adjusted the screw for the carb. No go. Probably wouldn't have written a review, but after seeing the others, thought we had better make a point!

Nothing but Trouble
By Jaye G.
Hughson, California
Review Posted 05/15/2015
Getting it started has always been a pain. Followed instructions for starting but didn't work. Pulling starter 40-50 times finally succeeded. Once the motor was running and I began trimming, the line would break inside the spool cover. I would open the cover and find the line melted and sticking to itself in places. The housing covering the shaft of the trimmer was too hot to touch. I think the shaft was melting the trimmer line.

Long story shortened, don't buy this trimmer.
