Q: Is the battery removable without tools? Can I easily remove the battery before loading it in the car and replace it when I arrive at the yard to be mowed.
by Liz from Maryland on May 25, 2014

A: Liz - yes, the battery on the Remington RM212B can be easily removed. However, it is pretty heavy. There are no tools required to remove or re-install the battery.

Q: Does the Remington 24 volt lawn mower come with a battery charger? How long does the battery last, how many charges?
by James from Colorado on May 15, 2011

A: James - yes, the battery charger is included with this model. Run time on this mower is about 40 to 45 minutes on a full charge, and the battery is rated for 300 cycles (300 recharges).

Q: Todd:

I want to start a small business in lawn mowing. To distinguish it from others, I want to use a "quiet, clean, environmentally responsible" concept (no gas mowers).

I've looked at everything from the Lehr propane powered (only uses 16 oz tanks), every cordless out there, and "manual" reel mowers (Are Manual reels even a viable option ?)

Each one has it's "disadvantages" in a "small" commercial operation.

I'm leaning towards the "cordless" electric ones, but I need to find the ones with the "longest" run times, and the "cheapest" batteries, so the start up costs aren't prohibitive.

The Remingtons seem to fit the bill, but I can't seem to find information on the batteries. Someone told me that they run about $ 60 (most of the others are around $ 100).

I'd be greatfull for any other information or suggestions that you might have on starting this business.

It would save me a lot of "hit & miss" trial and error that I can't afford at the start.

Thanks, in advance.

Ray

by Ray from Pennsylvania on April 12, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. You are correct, this Remington will fit the bill. Some other higher end cordless mowers on our site are the Worx and Greenworks brands. However none of these are commercially rated and none are covered under warranty for commercial use. Keep this in mind if you are going to use these in a mowing business capacity. These type of mowers are really meant for sporadic use and smaller yards.

Terrible Battery, No Support
Initial battery lasted less than one summer. Replacement battery lasted less than two weeks. Local service recommended by Remington would not return calls.

Blade ships dull. Poor cut.

Remington Cordless Mower
Ordering the mower was easy. Shipping time was excellent. Assembly was simple. But when I tried to charge the battery I had a problem. Manual states initial battery charge to be at least 14 hours. The indicator light on the charger was red when I first plugged it in. After 14 hours it still showed red and battery was not charged. I called customer service and spoke with a technician. He felt that the battery was defective. They sent me another battery. It arrived within 4 days. I plugged the... more

As I have had a reduction in my ability to walk and this made my gas mower too large and heavy to handle one handed, I needed to find a mower that was both light weight and small enough for me to be able to use one handed. So far, this mower fills that bill very nicely.

Even An 82 Year Old Can Assemble And Use It!
Yes, even at my age this mower works well, it is a little heavier than I expected but since my lawn is very small, I do manage to cut it my self. Good exercise and takes me away from my knitting and out of my recliner. I'm glad I convinced myself to give it a try.

P.S. I wish I could find a small battery operated string edger. I'm afraid of the weight. : (

Great For Small Yards.
I bought this mower because I did not want a gas mower. So far it has worked well. The only thing I really do not like about it is the weight of it with the battery in it. Without the battery it is very light but with the battery a gas mower is a bit lighter. I have a small yard and it does a great job of mowing it, easy to start, and seems to do well with getting around tight areas in my yard. The bag is rather small but if used in mulch or side discharge I don't have to stop after a few rows... more

Saty Away Of This
It worked good for the first 2-3 times.

Then one day, the battery was very hot and ready to explode while on charge.

I called the costumer service and they said that the battery is not covered by warranty.

They gave me a number of a dealer, but they were closed.

I am very disappointed for my time I spend to try to open a warranty claim. It is impossible.

Now the 3 months since I bought the piece of .... and the warranty is gone.

Money flushed down the toilet.

Easy to charge, cuts very good, can mow yard two times before recharge, the battery is very heavy which makes pushing the mower kind of hard.

Assembly
The assembly was difficult, especially the mowing height adjustment. Also the correct attachment of the grass catching container.
Once these difficulties were overcome, it operated well.

Makes Cutting My Grass Less Of A Chore And More Fun
I love the super easy start and stop. Gas mowers you normally keep running because it's hard to re-start. So, when you're doing a turn around you just keep it running. Now, when I do my turn around I stop the mower, put it right where I want to start up again and then re-start. Also, helps to extend my battery life. So far I've been able to cut my front twice and back once on a single charge...maybe 60-80 minutes.

The only negative is that the battery charger light does not turn green when... more

About Right
Good mower to trim out or small yard. With the right height setting enough power, and plenty of battery for my uses. I've used it three times and haven't had to recharge it yet. I bought the Remington because I've owned two of their electric chain saws for 10 years and they're still cutting wood. Hope the mower does as well.
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Use
