Can this panel accept slimline or tandem breakers? If not do you have a panel that can accommodate 16 breakers? Thanks
Rob Heagney
from Pennsylvania
March 06, 2015
Answer
Thanks for your inquiry.

Yes the TRC and most of the Panel/Link series can accept tandem breakers. Reliance Controls specifies the TRC having a 12/20 space bus bar, 12 full size spaces (1ö) and 8 of those spaces were meant to also accept the tandem breakers.

Will I have to have space for a 60 or 100 amp 2 pole breaker in the main service box?
Mark Osborn
from Nebraska
February 07, 2014
Answer
Yes. The Reliance Controls TRC1005C is designed to operate as a sub-panel. This transfer switch will require a 2-pole breaker in the main distribution panel in order to receive utility power. Keep in mind that which ever circuits are supported within this transfer switch will no longer be placed within the main service panel.

Ref: Generac Model 5735 We have a 200 AMP service and would like to use the 100 AMP manual transfer switch. Does the 100 AMP switch work the same way as the Kit50-25SB? Is the reason for the price difference the circuit breakers for the 100 AMP switch?
Ken McDaniel
from Louisiana
May 04, 2011
Answer
Yes, the TRC1005C operates the same as the Kit50-25SB except the Kit includes the breakers, power inlet box and power cord. All of these items would need to be purchased when selecting the TRC1005C.

What circuit breakers do I use for the branch circuits?
Mike
from Iowa
February 08, 2011
Answer
Reliance Controls transfer panels are UL listed for a number of interchangeable breakers (see label on the inside cover of the transfer panel). If the main panel has this type of breaker, relocate the selected branch circuit breakers to the transfer panel. If the breakers cannot be moved, other breakers of the same ampacity must be installed in the transfer panel.

THE FOLLOWING CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE UL LISTED FOR USE WITH ALL TR, TT, T1 AND T2 SERIES RELIANCE CONTROLS TRANSFER PANELS:
SIEMENS TYPES QP, QT, QPH, HQP, QPF, QPHF, QFP, QE, QEH
SQUARE D: SERIES HOM (100A Maximum)
CH/WESTINGHOUSE: SERIES BD, BR, BQ, GFC (All 100A Maximum)
MURRAY: TYPE MP

Where do I plug my generator into this Transfer switch?
Ben Weston
from Pennsylvania

Answer
A transfer switch/panel like this requires a power inlet box. The power inlet box is installed on the exterior of the home.

Power inlet boxes can be found here
