Answer
Thank you for your interest in Sump Pumps Direct.
Per the installation instructions for the Liberty 404 Sink/Drain Pump System:
Provision is made for a vent stack to allow extra volume for high suds conditions, and to ensure proper drainage of the fixture. HAND-TIGHTEN ONLY. DO NOT CAP-OFF VENT. DO NOT use ONE-WAY QUICK-VENTS or AIR ADMITTENCE VALVES as they will not guarantee proper fixture performance. The vent pipe should have a union to facilitate removal if required and shall be connected directly to a building or house vent.
This is pretty standard for all of these systems.

For the Liberty 405 model pump system, I see the unit has a " provision " for a stack vent. Is it absolutely necessary to have a vent on this type of pump system? I am using the system to lift kitchen sink drain water to my house drain system approx 3 ft. Thanks.

Answer
The Liberty 405 is specifically designed to be used for a remote sink drain or a laundry application as long as the water temperature does not exceed 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Per the product manual:
Provision is made for a vent stack to allow extra volume for high suds conditions, and to ensure proper drainage of the
fixture. HAND-TIGHTEN ONLY. DO NOT CAP-OFF VENT. DO NOT use ONE-WAY QUICK-VENTS or AIR ADMITTENCE
VALVES as they will not guarantee proper fixture performance. The vent pipe should have a union to facilitate removal if required
and shall be connected directly to a building or house vent.
