I bought this saw online from eBay and wasn't sure what to expect but I've owned a Husqvarna 16 inch ,a stihl 18 inch and a pos craftsman 18 inch , all these were bought new. My Husqvarna started giving me a lot of trouble so I started looking for a good saw for a backup in case I needed it so I saw the jonesered cs2250s on ebay and didn't know a thing about it so I went online and looked up everything I could find about the saw and read the reviews and after checking it out and reading up on I went back to ebay and looked at it one more time, then I noticed the price of it and wow it was 100.00 cheaper than the same size Husqvarna and also found out that it was actually made by Husqvarna but in Spain I think it said. I went ahead and thought I'd take a chance with this one and I've been so glad I did ever since. This jonesered says it's 50 CCs but it chews through everything I've ever cut like butter ,I've cut everything from one inch little shurb up to a 30 inch red oak with this saw in the 6 years I've had it and this thing has never not started on me. The only thing I wish is that I wish I could find another one. They either stopped making these or selling them in the US and I can't find one online, a new one that is. You can find parts for it anywhere online but I can't find a new saw. I'm not a logger but I've cut wood for most of my life whether it's falling one or cutting for firewood or cutting up trees that's been blown over and if I could I'd buy another Jonesered over any other one I've ever used. I would highly recommend these saws if you are looking for one and can find one. Like I said you can find any part for these but I can't find the saw itself anymore.

No Gasket On Air Cleaner!

The Jonsered CS2250S has the same flawed design as Poulan-Pro 50/20 chainsaw. The air cleaner design is almost identical. Neither have a gasket underneath the air cleaner so they suck in dirt and will fry the rings if used daily. Why don’t these companies test their products long-term and fix the problems before they sell them on the shelves of stores? An oiled foam filter similar to moto-cross dirt bikes would be the best filter for a chainsaw. This type of filter would actually catch the fine sawdust instead of sucking it into the motor. I personally used high temperature silicone around the flawed air cleaner design to prevent it from leaking. The problem is the filter itself still isn’t sufficient to keep the dirt out of the engine! Please come up with a better filter for your saw. It is otherwise a good unit. Two words- destructive testing. This is how you find problems and fix them. Maybe you should hire me since your engineers can’t come up with a design that will work. Shame on you. These chainsaws aren’t cheap and when used frequently, they are going to fail prematurely.

I love this saw. it has really good power for the weight of it. I normally use dolmar ps 510 which has a little more power but also has ALOT more weight. At the end of the day you can really notice the difference in how sore you are, but not in the pile of wood you cut.
I really like that this saw has a primer bulb.
It makes it a breeze to start. Prime it 4 times, put the choke up, pull it twice, choke down, starts on the second pull every time. I have had it two full years now and it still runs great even with a ton of use and even misuse.
When I bought the saw, I was a little concerned about the durability of the new style bar nut, but it has held up excellent and is way more convenient then hauling around an swench which I always seem to forget. I hope this starts to catch on with others saws because it works very well.

Purchased saw to replace an under-powered Stihl 019T to do some bucking. The difference between 1.8 and 3.2 h.p. is amazing! The 18" bar is a perfect match for the power of the saw. Keep the blade sharp and this saw slices through most anything like butter.
The tool-less chain tensioner is a very nice time saver. Obviously with all things that are tool related and made of plastic, use care.
Either you carry around wrenches with you and muscle everything into oblivion, or you treat your tools with a little respect. :)
For a first saw you may consider something in the 2.5 h.p. range but I wouldn't purchase lower than that. I've used the Stihl 1.8 h.p. for years and I'll never use another 2 h.p. saw for anything but limbing. It's just masochistic in the extreme.
To Start Chainsaws:
1. Press fuel bulb until it's full of fuel.
2. Set choke to on position.
3. Push decompression plug on engine.
4. Pull cord until the engine turns over and then stalls once.
5. Set choke to off position.
6. Push decompression plug again if desired.
7. Pull cord to start saw. If it doesn't start at this point, return unit for service.
8. Happy bucking!
