Love This Mower
By Michael Q.
Old Chatham, New York
Review Posted 04/12/2019
I have had the LT 1500 mower for about 7 years. First year sears had to replace the motor it was my son in laws fault but they still came to my house with a new engine and changed it in my driveway. When done the battery wouldn't turn it over so the gentleman put a new one in. No charge. When I bought my second property nothing had been done with the 1 acher lawn for 5 years. This mower plowed through it with no trouble. I just changed the spindles and front tires for the first time. Besides the typical belts and blades air filter and oil changes, I have not even had a headlight blow.

I purchased this mower through the military exchange a little over 5 years ago. I weekly mow about 1/2 an acre with no issues. I've had to replace the battery once or twice since I've left it connected over the winter, but other than that, no issues.

NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT

Sears subs out the engine to MTD that uses a Chinese built engine named ZONG. Design "flaw" at the air intake allowed dust to easily get into the engine apparently and destroy it. New on October 20, 2013, replaced motor by August, 2014, and again engine failed- new ZONG/MTD replacement again Aug., 2015.

After around 20 hrs of use between August 2015 and April, 2016, engine quit again. Sears comes out and says engine kaputz again although the 2015 engine had the design "Flaw" at the air intake raised up about 1/2 inch. So now the 2 year warranty was up, the 3rd engine is kaputz and I have a 2 yr. 7 month old mower that completely won't run.

When they tell me I should have bought their extended warranty, my response is understandably - "why?" Sears would again be putting the faulty ZONG engine again in this mower. There is still something wrong with ZONG. The MTD people fulfilled their warranty promise, but with the same ol' thing.

Make sure when purchasing a mower you know what parts and who makes them about the ENGINE attached to your mower. The Sears repair people said Kohler and Briggs and Stratton engines are better. Do not buy the entry level with ZONG ENGINE. MTD claims they have no "statistics" on motors as to more or less claims on engines. Hmmmm.

Piece of junk

Review Posted 03/20/2016
I have bought as many as five Craftsman 42 inch tractors from Sears starting back in the 70's. At first the tractors were super, I would use them 10 years and re-sell them and get me a new one. The last tractor bought a year ago is poorly built, it has broken 4 belts so far, at a cost of $100.00 each time to replace them. The Sear's techs do not know how to fix the problem. The tractor has limited power--Sears is going down in quality and service. I will not buy from them ever again.

Never Again
By Chris
California
Review Posted 07/20/2015
Bought it a year ago, got warranty cause I knew I' wouldn't be gentle with it. Had it in the shop for past two weeks got it back and after about ten minutes of working I had to shut it off and went to restart it and bam! Won't start. Was expecting better seeing as it was a Craftsman. Will never buy another one again. Only thing worse then the tractor is the customer service... I mean minimum three calls just to get a distributor they recommend in your area and then crappy service from whomever you choose.

Scalps Lawn
By Ron A.
South Beloit, Illinois
Review Posted 05/28/2015
This mower is good if you want to cut weeds in a open field and not a lawn that you want to look nice. I would like to know if wheels could be put on the deck to help it cut more even? The vibration leaves a lot to be desired will not buy another craftsman tractor.

Fliud Levels
By Dave Z.
Whitehouse, Ohio
Review Posted 04/10/2015
I wanted to change the oil in my tractor, but could not fine out how much oil it takes. The manual does not give fluid levels.

I called the manufacturer's service line and talked to them, and they could not tell me. All they said was start out at 40 oz and check the dip stick. I have purchased Sears products for years. Sears was the first credit I got, but this is not the sears I'm used to. Too bad.
