Follow up to previous review called "Disappointed In The Durabil

This review is a follow up to my previous review entitled "Disappointed In The Durability". Since that time, I got a hold of Sears and couldn't be more happy with how I was treated. Sears went far above and beyond to make things right.
They completely stood behind their product and respected me as their loyal customer. They replaced the defective Tuff-Torq K46 transaxle for me. In this day and age that is a rarity. I can't sing their praises highly enough.

After push-mowing 2/3 acre for 3 years, I shopped around and Craftsman YT4000 seemed to be the best value mid-grade mower compared to comparable JD, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, and Wheel Horse. I upgraded to the V-Twin and 46" deck of the 28857.
I got 6 sollid years of use from my mower before the Tuff-Torq K46 Transaxle inexplicably failed without warning after 360 hours of use. I now have a shiny red 600 lb. paperweight. I have an estimate to replace the transaxle for $1250 on my otherwise perfect mower, which is just $350 less than it cost me new.
Simply put, a quality product wouldn't fail after 6 years and 360 hours of light duty use. I am disappointed in Sears Craftsman.

I have the 2011 version purchased in mid summer of that year. We have a lot of lawn but it is all flat. After two and a half mowing seasons the transaxle has failed. The transaxle is sealed, so no maintenance was required. A Sears representative had the gall to say that. "They don't make them like they used to...that's why you should have bought a maintenance agreement."
Couldn't believe my ears.
Before considering this or any mower, go online to the various lawn mower forums and you will see that this transaxle fails often. I wish I had searched further before buying.
At nearly a $1,000 to put in a new transaxle this mower is not worth fixing if it is going to fail again in two years.
Craftsman brands used to mean quality. Not any more.

I use this mower every one to two weeks to mow my 1.5 acres which includes slopes and valleys...it has proven to be durable and dependable. I have used it for broadcast spreading of weed & feed and also towed a roller over the entire 1.5 acres.
I am fond of the Platinum 24HP Briggs & Stratton engine even though I was continually told by every sales person to opt for the Kohler...no issues or problems with the Briggs it has been strong and dependable!
