I Can't Believe The Negative Reviews.

Review Posted 10/22/2022
My Brute runs like a champ. I don't have this particular model. But it is a Brute 6.75 Briggs Stratton 190cc self-propelled lawn mower. And it's 13 years old and runs like a champ. I serviced it twice since I had it. I bought it in N. Carolina and used it bi-weekly in the summer. And I moved to Florida and I use it weekly during the hot months and once maybe in the cooler months. I'm going to have it serviced again and get new wheels put on. They are bald and it's expected being 13yrs old. Just one pull and it starts right up. It's been a good lawn mower. No problem!

I've owned a lot of mowers over the years. Different brands, types and styles. The Brute is hands down the absolute best. In ten years it has never failed to start on first or second pull. It pulls itself through tall thick grass like its not even there. The tall wheels make it easy to pivot. I live in Florida so I mow almost all year long usually about every 5 days in the warmest rainiest months. I have 3/4 of an acre of grass to mow. I use a rider on most of it, but there a lot of areas I can't get to with rider. The only thing I have ever repaired on the mower is the cable bail. I have neither replaced or even sharpened the blade. With so much use the wheels are bald. I can't understand why they would discontinue the perfect mower.

JUNK

less than 10 hours on mower. wheels keep falling off. The muffler fell off and the aluminum threads are striped out. The gas cap will not stay on tight enough and fuel splashes out on the engine..
Has anyone started a class action on this piece of work? I hope in the afterlife, the people who are in charge of low quality products have to use there junk forever.

Briggs and Stratton Mowers are FRAUD
By Roger

Review Posted 05/14/2016
I own a few mowers and this one keeps on falling apart. It is according to the model number sticker a 22" mower but when I went to replace the blade it took a 21". All the bolts rattle loose, the wheels fall off and will not stay at the cut setting, The tread on the tires is completely worn off when all my other mowers are hardly worn at all with the same use, The handle broke, The only thing still functioning without repairs is the engine for now. The engine seems a little under-powered and slow compared to my other mowers with the same power ratings. This is the worst quality of all the mowers I have ever owned.

Junk but don't blame Brute

This mower says discontinued but the engine and a 675EX model are still being sold. I don't blame Brute on this pile of crap other than for not recalling them. I blame Briggs and Stratton. The first year I had this I got 5 mows in a very small yard and it went poof. Stopped starting. I replaced the spark plug and it ran like a charm and that was the last of the seasons mow.
Winterized and brought it out of winterization for this season. I got two mows out of it and it is dead again. It will not start. I will be changing the spark plug again but I shouldn't have to change a spark plug every few mows of a 10' x 100' mow area. I have had generic cheap mowers that I never did any care to or change spark plugs last me for 6-8 years until the deck finally gave out on them but the engines were still good. This thing imo is just an all around beast. I will be getting another generic mower. One I have to prime because I believe the self primer on these units is the issue. I might be doing things it isn't supposed to do like foul the plug to early or while I is sitting.

The reviews here are not the same model. Comparing oranges to apples....The same motor is in two of the models of good and better. So the wheels suck. Buy new ones butter cup. The price is right and it has a 2 year warranty.

Great mower

We bought a foreclosed house and a brute self-propled mower in the spring of 2012, and we're still using it as we finish out 2014 with no problems. I don't understand the bad reviews. I change the oil, the air filter, and the spark plug each spring and it fires up on the first or second pull each time. I am very pleased.

Do not purchase this mower
By Joe

Bought this mower second hand...I am pretty mechanically inclined so I also went out and bought new parts (air filter fuel filter spark plug etc.) and replaced all the parts and rebuilt the carb...I could not for the life of me get this mower to stay running. Every time a clump of grass hit the blade the mower would stall. I have always bought my mowers second hand, the last one I bought and rebuilt worked great for about ten years. This one didn't even last a day. I am so dissapointed at the performance of this mower that I would never ever buy it new or second hand again. If they offered it to me for free I would turn it down. The only word to describe it is JUNK!
I rated it 1 star only because there is not a lower rating to give it. Save yourself any hassle by avoiding this mower.

Since you rebuilt it, there's no telling what may be causing this. However, if you want a reliable mower, consider our Best Selling & Top Rated Walk Behind Mowers.

Worst quality mower ever.

Bought this mower at Walmart November of 2013. Had to keep adding oil till start of this mowing season. Didn't have to use it much due to drought in our area. Last week the right back wheel broke off around the hub. The left one can't be far behind, cracks already showing. Just can't get over why anyone would manufacture such a piece of junk. Of course Walmart is absolutely no help at all. No parts and no responsibility for selling such a piece of junk.

After reading the reviews, I am scared I purchased a lemon. I purchased mine from Wal-Mart Ottawa, Canada on May 17,2014, followed the directions to a T, on May 18,2014, started just fine, but the self drive was not working. Called Wal-Mart upset, told that because it was oiled and had gas, the store wouldn't take back for another one. Well (#$@%!) told to call 1-800 number, this was Sunday and the service said only opened Mon To Sat. Back on Phone to the store. Girl I spoke with was on Lunch. Asked to have her call me back. Then I went to work on the lawnmower, took the shield off the self drive. (Thanks Brute for detail instruction that were invisible) once the cover was off, the drive belt was off. Took few minutes to re-attached. Got a call back from Wal-Mart and the girl had spoken with the store manger and he said that they would take it back for the exchange. I told her all fixed now. Then today I read the bad reviews. Not looking forward to bound to happen problems as listed by others. If it works like it is now, I will be very happy, but it will be by one cut at a time for me to stay this way. Lucky I know a bit about taking a lawn mower apart, I pitty the poor soul who doesn't know.
