At 250 Hours, I Couldn't Be Happier!
By Ted B.
Bernville, Pennsylvania
Review Posted 08/02/2017
After I wore out my 1991 Grasshopper a few years ago, I bought this machine. I bought it at Home Depot, and I chose it because the price was good, and it had a Kawasaki engine. At first, I was a little dubious about the quality. If I ran over a stick, I heard "clang" instead of "thunk", so I thought the deck might be a little lighter. Servicing the deck is a fairly major feat, and I have avoided it. But I can now say, after 250 hours, this mower has been an astoundingly good product. The deck turned out to be very solid. Perhaps because of the size of the blades, they still cut grass beautifully (never sharpened).
There is an electronic interface that tells you when to perform maintenance. The display is very cryptic, but it is acceptable. For example, when the air filter needed changing, it told me so. Changing the oil requires a little dexterity, and two wrenches, but it is simple enough. For a while, the "puncture proof" tires on the front slowly leaked air, but that issue went away. Maneuverability on slopes is not as good as my old mower, but I have learned how to deal with that minor problem. It is also pretty noisy. Oh well. I wear noise protection. I mow three acres, and it takes me about 2 1/2 hours. When I am finished, my entire lawn looks like a lush green carpet. Overall I strongly recommend this mower.

Runs like a top, little bit of a learning curve. It is a bit squeaky as I bounce over ruts which I still need to look into. It did bog down a bit but my grass hadn't been touched for over a month so hopefully after the rains I won't run into that again.

Never dreamed I would be this satisfied!

I'm a handicapped senior, mid 70's, and needed a dependable mower for the 4 acres I need to mow at least once a week. I decided to get a zero turn because they were advertised to be faster to mow with and in general, built much better than the 48" riding mower I had been using.
Boy was this true! My Ariens MaxZoom60 has reduced my mowing time from around 4 hours down to about 2 1/2 hours and the finished cut is much more even and professional looking. I feel I made a very good decision in my purchase from Mowers Direct. In addition, being handicapped I have no problem getting on or off the mower, and feel very safe mowing with it.

It's a Beast

Bought this mower to replace an old zero turn that was smaller. I mow 3 acres with several trees on the place. This mower went through tall thick grass with ease. This is the first summer with the machine, but so-far it works great.

Don't hesitate.... BUY THIS MOWER!!!!

I never write reviews but since this was a pretty big purchase for me I figured I will share my opinion.
This mower KICKS ASS!!!!!!!
I only have about 9hrs. logged on it so far and I'm very satisfied with the ease of use and overall quality of the machine. Has a very rigid heavy duty feel. Took me about 5 or 10 min. to get used to the controls and steering. I have 3.5 acres that I used to do with a 48" john deere LA130. It used to take me a little over 3hrs toal to do front and back, I would split it in two days because hey working full time and raising 3 little kiddies there's only so much time in a day if you know what I mean.
I did the entire 3.5 acres the other day in a record 1hr and 10min.!!! No more spliting the work into two days on the weekend, it feels great I feel like I have my weekends back!!!!
The only negative I could see it the tire size. I could see how they would loose traction on inclines, however my lawn is almost completely flat so I have no problems.
I saved about $1500 dollars plus tax by buying this factory direct. The dealer quoted me a Gravely PT60 (which is Ariens commercial line), when comparing the Max Zoom 60 the specs were almost identical. Main difference was the tire size and model of the drive system. Im sure there are other differences but the deck and frame are the same and I'm only running it 1hr or so per week 4 months out of the year. Ask yourself before you buy, do I really need a commercial mower?
I chose to save a few grand and get The Max Zoom 60 because It seemed to have commercial quality components at a residential price!
Delivery was smooth and right on time! So that's all I have to say. Hope this helps, good luck all and happy mowing!!

Defective PTO clutch results in out of pocket money
By David H.
Verona, Wisconsin
Purchased 05/28/2016 |
Review Posted 07/11/2016
Only 7 hours on this machine and now the blades do not engage. Because of the units size, I needed to have it picked up and delivered to dealer. While clutch is covered under warranty, the pickup and delivery is not included. So I have to pay 75 dollars out of pocket because of a warranty issue. Not happy!

All the reviews here are spot on. This is an outstanding machine. Really heavy duty and so much fun to drive. Very happy with this purchase!
Add the service from Mowers Direct!. Simply unpack the machine from its crate and you are ready to cut.

My only issues are the size of the rear tires and the constant rattle of the anti scalp rollers I have several places on my 9 acre property that I have to navigate, which I have already gotten stuck because the rear of the mower hangs up, hence, wheels in the air.

Careful on hills

I've had the Ariens MaxZoom60 Zero Turn mower for about 2 months and have used it about 6-7 times. I was a complete novice but adapted well to mowing flat areas in no time. The 60 inch pass is fantastic and mower hasn't had any ignition, cutting blade, or other mechanical issues. All seems well.
That said, we have more hills than are really idea for this type of mower. I have to be very careful as I've slid down the hill on damp grass three times and had to creatively drive out of the jam. Rear tire tread quickly fills with mud and then you have no control over the machine at all... quick nerve wracking! We're looking to upgrade the rear tires.
