  2 Questions
Q: What does 4-in-one stand for?

by Jacob from Colorado on August 05, 2013

A: Jacob - a 4-in1- mower has the capability to bag, mulch or discharge grass clippings, as well as shred leaves in the fall if you require this functionality. The leaf shredding attachment is not included and would have to purchased separately: leaf shredder

Q: What is advantage of brake clutch?
Your opinion: Is electric start necessary based on supposedly easy pull start?

by Buster Burkhalter from Louisiana on February 28, 2013

A: Buster - the brake clutch feature allows you to disengage the mower blade and stop it from turning without shutting down the engine. On a mower that doesn't have this feature, when you let go of the bail to disengage the mower blade, the engine shuts down as well. There is no need to restart the engine with the brake clutch feature. As for the electric start, that's all a matter of convenience. Older folks and users who have bad shoulders or hands love the electric start. If you don't have issues with pulling the recoil starter rope to get the mower running, the electric start feature probably isn't for you.

Reliable For 8 Years...
Bought this mower when I moved into my house 8 years ago. It was sitting out front at the Home Depot as a customer return, and so I got an excellent deal. 8 years later, here is my review:

-I'm very impressed with the Honda engine. Starts first pull, every time.
- I have been hard on this mower, running it 9 months a year on a half acre lot.
- I really enjoy using the mower for picking up leaves in the fall. I run the mower 5 feet, pick up all the leaves in an area, and then unload... more
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Fast, Reliable

Pure Luxury.
I've owned a half dozen self propelled mowers and this one just oozes quality. Super quiet, easy start, great cut and as fast of a pace as you want. I bought this model because you can disengage the blades and still use the self propel feature to get across other terrain (gravel, dirt, etc...). On my previous mowers you had to shut everything off and drag it with muscle to get across gravel sections. Really nice mower that just feels good to use.
Pros: Quiet, Exceeded Expectations, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Expensive

Solid But Lacks Traction
My new Honda mower starts easily and has considerable power to tackle even tall grass. I'm disappointed in how difficult it is to maneuver, however. The small rear tires do not have any discernible tread and do not get enough traction to move the mower on even the lowest slopes. If I could, I would be returning the Honda and opting for a mower with "beefier" rear tires and better traction.

First Experience With This Mower
Shipment received timely and undamaged. Used the mower on approximately 1/2 acre, worked great-cut mowing time with self propelled feature. Relatively easy to start out of the box, blade feature wonderful. Second day, it took several pulls to get it to start. Pace system works well. Overall, very happy with purchase and with Mowers Direct.

First Time For Me
I have had 3 previous Honda mowers. Each did well and I wore them out. This one I bought over the Internet trying to save a few bucks. It arrived in perfect shape and I did not have to assemble it. I oiled it, added gas and the darn thing started on the very first pull!!! I expected a bunch of problems getting it running. But no such bad luck. I mowed the grass on the first pull! A first for me. Honda is the best . I have had Jacobsen, John Deere, Toro, and Sears. These are easily the cream... more

John Deere/ Honda/ Stihl Parts Sales.
My wife and I recently purchased a new home, and since I work for a dealership that sells Honda and Stihl power equipment, it felt necessary to spend good money on some good products. I got the mower home, pulled it out of the box, put the oil and fuel in, gave it a moderate pull and it fired on the first try. It did so well that I was actually a little upset when there wasn't any lawn left to mow. I have only used it twice to date, and both times it started on the first pull.

Honda Quality Expected And Not Disappointed
I bought the mower online from Mowers Direct. Shipping was prompt. The mower works great. The blade brake feature is worth the extra $$'s.

I would recommend this machine and Mowers Direct based on this experience.

3 Lots To Mow
This mower is by far the most convenient and easy to use one I've ever owned. It collects a large amount of clippings in a wide rigid bag and the dual blades provide a fine cut. That said, the mulching feature was a little messy. It mulches just fine but the grass trails out of the back onto your shoes and socks. Other than that its a pleasure to operate. Its very light weight so self-power is all you need to steer around objects. It starts up right away without priming and you can keep... more

Hands Worn Out
I just returned to Home Depot my HRR2168VYA Honda mower. I absolutely hate the little butterfly attachment to the handle which controls the speed of the mower. It is way too sensitive and I spend all the time mowing just trying to get the pressure exactly correct for the speed I want. I adjust it so that I could use the palm of my hand instead of thumbs which is better than the thumb technique, but when I finished mowing my hands were worn out and felt very frustrated having to mentally... more

2nd Honda.
I had first Honda for 12 years, with no problems. My son just bought a new house, so I used the excuse that he needed a mower and that I would gladly give him mine if I could buy a new one. Did my homework and seem to come to the same conclusion, Honda had what I needed.
