  3 Questions
Q: What is the cost of the leaf shredder attachment
by Dan from Alabama on May 10, 2015

A: Dan - the current model HRR216 series Honda mowers (K9) have a re-designed mower deck that does not accommodate a leaf shredder attachment. If you have a 2013 or older Honda HRR216 mower (K1 thru K8 in your model number), then the leaf shredder attachment will fit up to your mower: leaf shredder

Q: What does 4-in-one stand for?

by Jacob from Colorado on August 05, 2013

A: Jacob - a 4-in1- mower has the capability to bag, mulch or discharge grass clippings, as well as shred leaves in the fall if you require this functionality. The leaf shredding attachment is not included and would have to purchased separately: leaf shredder

Q: What is advantage of brake clutch?
Your opinion: Is electric start necessary based on supposedly easy pull start?

by Buster Burkhalter from Louisiana on February 28, 2013

A: Buster - the brake clutch feature allows you to disengage the mower blade and stop it from turning without shutting down the engine. On a mower that doesn't have this feature, when you let go of the bail to disengage the mower blade, the engine shuts down as well. There is no need to restart the engine with the brake clutch feature. As for the electric start, that's all a matter of convenience. Older folks and users who have bad shoulders or hands love the electric start. If you don't have issues with pulling the recoil starter rope to get the mower running, the electric start feature probably isn't for you.

81 Years Old Had Many Mowers From Push To Gas
Mow at least two times a week in LA. have used it in my grandsons yards also. Always always starts. rear wheel drive works superb. does have issue when you turn sometimes the drive requires you to turn a different way but always works. Am amazed that it always starts on first pull. Trick I believe is to shut off the fuel and let it run out of fuel. I do only use reg gas in it but use reg in all my gas equipment. Using the corn gas really messes up the fuel systems on those products. Only... more

Honda! Horrible Headache!
I bought my mower 3 years ago and paid over $500. It has turned out to be a headache every year. It has no trouble starting but has cost me more time and money than any other mower I've owned. The first year, I replaced two wheels that had cracked under the use of mowing on an incline (ditch). Year two, the filter seemed to stop up just about every other week even after replacing. This year, it seems to be the carburetor. It now wants to go dead every time I engage the blades and if left... more

Great Mower
I bought this mower for my wife and she loves it. It's still fairly new so no complaints at this time.

I am on my second one. I have a moderate size yard that sees good grass growth but I'm not obsessed about my yard. The mower is pretty heavy to maneuver around trees and to use without drive. The two blade system Honda users is far superior to any other product out there. It cuts well with thick and long grass.

Easy starting. Carbs are very finicky and are definitely a weakness on this mower. Usability and adjust-ability are good and well thought out. Mulch system works well. Ergonomics and... more

Too bad you can't test drive before you buy. Starts excellent, cuts good. Application is on 10k sq. Ft lot. Does not maneuver around trees or back up very short distances as well as the 10 year old Toro, personal pace, it replaced, also rear wheel drive.

Grerat Mower You Should Buy 1 Today
I bought my mower last year at Cal Ranch. Because I own a lawn care company I was looking for a well built mower that was cheap but not cheaply made.

The things I love about this mower: it starts right up, you don't have to stop the engine to empty the bag, it has a clip switch that that closes a door so it will mulch (no need for a mulch plug here).

Things I hate about this mower: the wheels don't get very good traction. They need to be like the wheel on the HRX217 models, the Smart... more

Hard To Start Some Of The Time
I have this Honda model that I use for lawn care. It has an auto choke. When mowing long grass and the engine stops running it can be very hard to start. Also after a long time and going to the next yard it will not want to start on the first pull. Honda mowers are known for starting on the first pull. Auto choke bad idea.
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Quiet, Fast
Cons: Expensive, Low Quality, Unreliable

Issues
With about 8 hours on this mower, it now surges at idle. I had a mower do this regardless of brand. Hardly acceptable. Forums support this as a flaw and unfortunately many owners complain of this issue. From what I have read, these carbs are cheap in construction and rarely get repaired but more often replaced as they can be bought for around 15.00. I expected more from Honda.

Pure Luxury.
I've owned a half dozen self propelled mowers and this one just oozes quality. Super quiet, easy start, great cut and as fast of a pace as you want. I bought this model because you can disengage the blades and still use the self propel feature to get across other terrain (gravel, dirt, etc...). On my previous mowers you had to shut everything off and drag it with muscle to get across gravel sections. Really nice mower that just feels good to use.
Pros: Quiet, Exceeded Expectations, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Expensive

First Time For Me
I have had 3 previous Honda mowers. Each did well and I wore them out. This one I bought over the Internet trying to save a few bucks. It arrived in perfect shape and I did not have to assemble it. I oiled it, added gas and the darn thing started on the very first pull!!! I expected a bunch of problems getting it running. But no such bad luck. I mowed the grass on the first pull! A first for me. Honda is the best . I have had Jacobsen, John Deere, Toro, and Sears. These are easily the cream... more
