Hurricane Irma is the strongest storm in history. As it makes its way towards the coast, many residents of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina are taking action.
Hurricanes can have a devastating, lasting impact on the lives and infrastructure in affected areas, long after the initial landfall. Massive power outages, severe flooding, and even mudslides can make shipping supplies like emergency portable generators difficult.
Each storm brings its own challenges. Weather and road conditions change rapidly by the minute and deliveries simply cannot be guaranteed as a result of shipping challenges like: mandatory evacuations, road closures, and carrier backlogs, etc.
Whether you're considering to purchase an emergency generator or already placed an order, you can count on Electric Generators Direct to help you weather the storm. We are prepared by stocking our warehouse and distribution centers before the season so that we can get your products on the road and on its way to you.
Order an In-Stock Generator In order to get the generator you need in a timely manner, you will need to select a generator that is currently in stock.
Next Day and 2nd Day Air Eligible There are select inverter type generators available with faster shipping options, such as next-day and 2nd day air service via FedEx.
UPDATE Monday, September 11: Due to service distruptions we are unable to offer Next-Day and 2-Day Air to certain zip codes in Georgia and South Carolina.
Please Note: Expedited shipping charges are non-refundable and delivery times are not guaranteed. We will get the products out the door and into the hands of FedEx. They will make every effort to deliver on time, but circumstances may cause a delay like: government-issued evacuations, flight groundings, and road closures.
Home Delivery Delays Home deliveries may be delayed depending on where you live. We are closely monitoring the situation caused by Irma as conditions change by the hour. Due to mandatory evacuations, orders are being delayed by shipping companies. However, not all areas will experience service disruptions equally. We will continue to update our site as we receive more information.
We strongly encourage you to not cancel or refuse your order. In doing so you will incur a Return Order Fee which could potentially cost hundreds of dollars.
If you do happen to have power, you are indeed very lucky. However, power outages can be unpredictable and we encourage everyone to have at least an emergency backup to protect themselves from an extended power outage. By placing your order NOW, your generator will eventually be delivered to your doorstep – even if it’s a few days delayed or before stocks run out.
Pick Up at Local Freight Terminal If you're without power or preparing for a storm, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND contacting your freight carrier to pick up your order at their local freight terminal to shave several days, perhaps even a week, off of delivery times. You'll just need to bring a photo ID that matches the name on the order to receive your generator, your order will not be released if it doesn’t match.
Once your order ships, we will email you a tracking number and the name of the freight carrier for your order. Clicking on that link will take you to the freight carrier's website, where you can find more information regarding your shipment. Once you know which terminal your order is heading to, the best bet is to contact them directly at the phone number below:
