For every job, you need the right tool. Wood chipping is no exception.
Cleanup of yard debris like leaves, twigs, and small plant waste is commonly dealt with by a chipper shredder.
For the larger jobs that consist of tree limbs and branches more than 2 1/2 inches in diameter, you're going to need to step up to a machine that handles chipping differently.
Wood chippers differ in design from chipper shredders, and they do so to serve different purposes.
These are designed for hard wood, around 2 1/2" or more in diameter. Chippers are great for reducing large limbs and branches into uniformly-sized chips that can be used for garden beds and walkways.
