Very Bad Customer Service
By Michael W

I placed my order for the chip and vac. on 4/24/17 . I called their customer service people 4 times . I have received 3 different responses . 1- it has already shipped , 2- the unit was missing a part and the manufacturer had to put it on the order , which held up shipment. Now just a few minutes ago another person from customer service told me the manufacturer has changed the model number and my product has not shipped because no one had alerted Agri-Fab . Today is May 5/5/17 and the product has NO ship date as of this writing. To say these people are lousy at their job would be an understatement. If the shipping and customer service is any indicator of what the order will look like or even run. Then I will call AE and cancel payment and they can take all year getting it back. This is stupidity at its worst.

Expert Response
I sincerely apologize for the delays on your order and understand your immense frustration. We have been in contact with Agri-Fab, who is also reaching out to you directly, to help resolve this situation. The model number for this unit was updated due to updates that were made to a few portions of the machine, which is what had caused the lengthy delay. This is not an excuse for the delay and we are working as fast as we can, alongside Agri-Fab, to remedy this problem. We truly appreciate your patience.

It has been confirmed that your unit is shipping today, alongside some additional tokens of appreciation from Agri-Fab as a thank you for your continued patience. If you ever have any questions about your machine, please do not hesitate to give us a call and we will do everything we can to assist. Our mission is to help folks just like you. Again, thank you very much for your business and I hope you will give us another shot in the future when you are ready to purchase more power equipment.

Worth the money, but not trouble-free

We just moved into a home that has a lot of oak trees in the yard. We raked by hand last year and decided this year to get a leaf vac. This product shipped with the incorrect assembly manual, but I was able to get it together. Agri-Fab promptly sent the correct manual as well.

A couple of issues: The mower adapter is definitely a DIY process. Imagine cutting a box to conform to the output of your mower deck, fitting all the contours so that all the suction is directed into the mower. Then you must devise a way to fasten this to the deck.

My second issue is that the large hose leading into the vac frequently falls off and no amount of clamping will make it stay. The plastic cone that it connects to is not shaped well for securing this hose.

Overall though, I am quite happy with the product, especially when I unload it and see the amount of leaves it has saved me from raking.

Does what it was intended to do!

The Agri Fab was easy to assemble. The deck adapter was a challenge. There was no layout for a Toro ZT mower. Take your time measuring and cutting your layout.

The vacuum/chipper worked well, impressive really. I have 2 acres of yard and it was well worth the investment.

Overall, very happy with the Chip-N-Vac. Very effective in picking up leaves rapidly. Long trailer is difficult to maneuver in tight spots.

Unfortunately I was using the hand held hose attachment (purchased separately) when a golf ball size rock was sucked up.

The impeller assemble and outer housing was damaged resulting in $220 worth of repair parts. Vacuum is very strong. Use caution when using with hand held attachment.

The product is great except the back door comes off easily while in operation, the packaging was awful. Dented on one side and basically ruined for looks. The shipping was the issue!!

I seriously consider the Chipper/Vac a LIFE SAVER.
By Don G.

Review Posted 10/24/2016
I have an old Chip & Vac (perhaps 15 years or so) with which I maintain a heavily "treed" lawn of about 2 acres in Michigan. In the Fall, I spend the second half of October and the first 1/2 of November vacuuming leaves - almost daily.

I require the use of a hay elevator to empty the collection box onto a pile in the woods, because the leaf pile is over 10 feet high initially. It would be physically impossible for me to manually rake the yard and collect/dispose of the leaves each Fall.

I have no need for the chipper function, but the powerful vacuum is a life saver - literally. I have gone through two engines (Tecumseh) and am considering upgrading to the Briggs and Stratton since I am faced with the need to invest in repairs to my current Tecumseh. I have required no (ZERO) repairs to the unit other than the engine.

If you use sometimes, it might be okay. I used it a lot and parts wore out too fast. I had it for two months. Let down.

Works Great

We purchased this to pick up leaves at our house and two of our kids homes. It does a fantastic job of picking them up. It took about an hour to set it up and get it going. Biggest problem is what to do with all the leaves.

The leaves that go through the mower are somewhat chopped up, but the ones picked up with the remote hose are not. I have figured out a way to use the remote hose and some stove pipe and have the vacuum self unload and load into a trailer to haul away. This unit has made a very hard job almost fun.

Solid machine with improvements needed
By Tom B.

Review Posted 11/21/2015
II've owned the AgriFab leaf vac for 5 years. I have about 2 acres of lawn surrounded by trees, but little area to dispose of them so I need to haul them off my property. Before I bought the vac, I used about 150 huge contractor bags (compressed with leaves) to complete the job, transporting them in my SUV. This has reduced to about 50 bags and a much faster and easier process with limited raking and 1/3 the number of trips to dump the leaves.

The machine has great suction and performs well in this regard, but a persistent problem causes constant stops, fixes and restarts. This adds significantly to the time it takes and is very frustrating (and a bit dangerous). The problem is that the hose disconnects constantly from my mower deck (John Deere lawn tractor) when turning even a modest radius.

A better system to connect the hoses to the deck and impeller needs to be developed. Other manufacturers seem to have done this better, but the new Agrifab models are identical to mine so no improvements have been made over the past 5 years. The only way to deal with this is to mow in such a way that you never need to turn more than a
wide radius (such as 50 ft) which is completely impractical on most lawns.

This is it's only serious problem, but it is major. It is probably easily correctable, but the company seems to be asleep on this.

Manufacturer Response
Agri-Fab/PED sells a hose extension kit that would allow more slack in the hose as you turn. This would take the pressure off of the hose clamp that is connected to the deck. I think this would fix your problem.
