Product QuestionsAnswered by Jared, the Generator Expert
Hi Jim,
I ordered a Winco HPS12000HE 10,800 Watt Tri-fuel Generator w/ Electric start Honda engine 2/1/13 and a 40 foot 30-amp power cord. I have a professionally installed interlock transfer switch and a 30-amp power inlet plug on my electric panel.
They are expectedly on back order.
My question is: Can I use one of my regular LP tanks from my Barbeque grill to power the generator? Is there a flexible fuel line available with a regulator that will reduce the pressure to the required 4-6 psi the product manual requires?
Please advise. Thanks

Answer
Per the manufacturers owner's manual available on our site on the product page for the generator and listed under the specs section.....
LP TANK SIZING
Once above the minimum acceptable size, the size of L.P. tank used will generally depend on how long you want the unit to run without refilling. The tank sizes shown below are the smallest recommended tank sizes based on the outside temperature. Keep in mind the colder it gets the slower L.P. will vaporize. This is the reason for the larger tanks at low temperature. Minimum sizing is not based on running time.
Temp 60 deg f. 30 deg f. 0 deg f. -20 deg f.
HPS6000HE 40 gal 50 gal 125 gal 350 gal
HPS9000E 70 gal 80 gal 200 gal 700 gal
HPS12000HE 150 gal 250 gal 500 gal 1000 gal
A flexible fuel line is not provided with the generator and an external regulator is required to bring your fuel to the appropriate fuel pressure.
