Will a 5/8" garden hose work with this pump?
Grace T.

Answer
As long as the connection is with a 3/4" threaded fitting, yes it will. However, you will see a reduced flow rate from the rated 50GPM.

If I was to water a garden with this pump, would the pressure of the hose turning on and off be bad for the pump?
Chris

Answer
Yes it would! Cutting off the flow on the discharge or "Deadheading the pump" of any submersible pump like this would cause extreme backpressure, resulting in either a hose/pipe blowing out or the pump exploding. Neither of which would be a good thing in addition to being potentially very dangerous for anyone near this. The same is true for non-submersible pumps UNLESS the pump is an on-demand style pump or it's connected to a pressure switch and pressure tank.

I think I need an anti-siphon valve for this pump, which I received from you a couple of weeks ago. It works very well, but recently has started short-cycling (I think) because the water in the discharge hose is flowing back into the reservoir and causing the pump to start up again for a moment. Do you recommend such a valve that can be used with the 3/4" hose adapter?

Answer
If this is a problem, you do definitely want to install a check valve near the discharge port of the pump. While we do not offer any in a 3/4", these can be found at your local hardware or big box store.

Would this Wayne EEAUP250 pump be an appropriate and feasible long-term solution to a window well that fills with heavy rains and leaks into an unfinished basement? It is under a deck with very little clearance so exterior window access is very difficult and I'd like to leave it in place year-round. This is in Kansas so winters are frequently freezing and summers are regularly in the 90's. Also, the house has no exterior drainage or sump pump in place but I'm trying to minimize costs if possible. Thanks!

Answer
Thank you for your interest in Water Pumps Direct. The Wayne EEAUP250 should perform well for your application, however I would recommend that you place a grate or some type of filter over this window well in order to prevent debris from getting into that area and possibly clogging the pump intake. I would also highly recommend that you utilize the full 1-1/4" discharge port with the same diameter discharge hose and keep an eye on it when temperatures dip to freezing or below.

I want to set a portable pump in a low spot on a concrete driveway that will pump water out to the street. I would like it to pump to about 1/2 inch. The water seldom gets above 5 inches. But I would like to leave it unattended overnight. Is there a pump that will turn itself off and on as the water rises or lowers?

Answer
The only pump that I could suggest would be the Wayne EEAUP250 automatic utility pump. This pump will activate at approximately 1-3/4" of water and shut off at approximately 3/8".
