I wanted to purchase a new log splitter for my husband as our old one was wearing out. Local stores were sold out for the season. I found Log Log Splitters Direct on line and they had one available and it was the size we were looking for.

Low Quality of Troy-Bilt Logsplitter
By Harry T.
Pennsylvania
Review Posted 10/01/2015
I owned a 27-ton Troy-Bilt log splitter for 6 years, which I purchased new. I split about 5-10 cords a year with it. The valve control handle broke once a few years ago and I had to pay to get it repaired.
Just this year, the cylinder broke and hydraulic fluid leaked out after a weld gave way near the valve handle, going into the cylinder wedge. To me, the welding is basic quality control, it should not break.
I called the manufacturer and found out there was another issue as well, and they had a formal recall for it. Three issues with the quality of the machine in 6 years.

Two Fold Review

To whom it may concern:(A) The log splitter itself works great and is very powerful and have found nothing that it cannot split. (B) The power source is the easiest to start with excessive power, would recommend it to anyone. 2.Engineering leaves a lot to be desired. I feel a recall should be done to the base landing gear in the front of the frame.
The drop down channel support cannot be lowered, the channel is too long as a result the unit must be removed from my Polaris six wheeler (500 sportsman) to get ground clearance. The penny wise & dollar foolish left my Grandson with two smashed hands & eight stitches in his right hand.
I am going to put a small cranking gear on the front to accommodate any height needed to insure a positive disconnect without incident. I am expecting a reply to this review and would appreciate aid in cost of the change & hospital bills.
I am not an engineer but will make my unit safe for anyone using it. I do not want the situation to get ugly. Respectfully Russell Piovesan 2019 Solomons Island Rd, Huntingtown, Md 20639 PHONE 410 5353026.

Excellent

I prep it, and it started on the first pull ! I couldn't believe it. Plus the pull was extremely easy! Half the tension of other motors. I really love the cradle arms, which were standard. That takes a lot of strain off my back. I also like the dislodger, again standard equipment. It is well built and I love it. I don't have to rent one now and can use this at my leisure.

Splits everything
By James

Review Posted 10/25/2014
Bought this splitter a few months ago and wish I would have bought it a long time ago!
I split about 10 cords so far this year and it has went through everything. There was one nasty crotch in an old oak tree that I did have to wiggle it a few times, but it ultimately did split through it. Only problem is I can't find a larger log catcher for it.

Works great, splits anything you can roll over to it.. Lightweight to move around.. Starts one pull.. Split about 10 cords, yet to drop a log on the engine, guess if you are a klutz, that would be an issue..

I split over 100 cords, still going strong. Still good for the money with my trusty Honda engine. I would not buy it again though, only because I need a four way wedge and a log lift. In other words my back will break down before this machine. Perfect for a home owner.. I guess its for sale... t.b.

Good for the money, I did 40 cords and simply the thing broke and I had to ship it, but I have the 3 yr. plan. Starts up everytime.
It's a shame the logs fall on the motor in the horizontal position.
