I Wish I Could Purchase Another CSV206

I found that replacing the engine ignition coil solved all of the hard starting problems, especially when the engine is warm. Also, the flywheel is heavy, so starting with a double pull works very well. The machine is very good to use once you know where all the cutting happens, and where to keep your fingers away from. It has plenty of power, and shreds leaves fine. The bag gets so heavy that you will not want to remove it because you won't be able to lift it. Drive the machine to the dump zone and open the zipper with the engine at idle to get all the mulched debris out. It is dusty, but it's worth having such a beast to help with the leaves. Need to make sure stones do not get mixed in with the leaves.

It works great when you can get it to start. The HARDEST pull I have ever experienced. Takes at least a dozen pulls for it to turn over...if you're lucky. An electric starter on this would make it a REAL machine!!!!
CSD RESPONDS: If you are still having problems starting your chipper/vac, please contact the folks at Troy-bilt, toll free, at (800) 828-5500. They will be able to advise you on starting tips, and recommend warranty service if necessary.
Electric starters are convenient, but add weight and cost to a chipper/shredder/vac. If units with electric start become available again we'll be happy to add them to our website.

Northern Wisconsinite loves new chipper/shredder

Great machine - does everything it is supposed to do. I'm a big guy and have no problems starting this on the first pull every time, but my wife, who lifts weights, and is in good shape at 6 feet tall, can't get enough RPM's to start this machine. Perhaps an electric start, or a clutch system that would dis-engage the chopping mechanism during starting would be a help for the not-so-scrappy human being. A reverse would also be an awesome addition that the engineers could incorporate into this well built piece of equipment.
