The Troy-Bilt Pony ES forward rotating rear tine tiller provides power and ease of use from breaking new ground to maintaining a current garden.

The Pony ES comes equipped with a Briggs and Stratton 250cc PowerBuilt engine. The engine on this machine provides more than enough torque to get through just about any job one may have. And the electric starter makes this machine a breeze to get running.

The Troy-Bilt Pony ES features Troy-Bilt's patented cast-iron encased transmission with... more

Troy-bilt Pony Es
Betsy and me bolted the handles on to the body as instructed in the well-packed box. Gave it oil (included), gas (not included), started on first pull, was in the garden a few minutes later. It's just as good as our 20-yr. old Pony. Have not tried electric start yet.
Pros: Durable, Reliable, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Ok Unit But I Should Have Bought The Horse
I replaced a very old Troy-Bilt Horse with the Troy-Bilt Pony. I wanted it for spring and fall tilling of the garden and general garden maintenance. In addition I have patches in my lawn that need replacement and I need to do some ground breaking for new flower beds. The unit works great for general tilling in the garden. However, if I hit a rock it literally pulls the unit out of my hands and lurches ahead several feet. This was a surprise as my old horse would simply jump up in the back... more
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Easy To Store, does good job on already broken ground
Cons: Unit not for ground breaking

What A P.o.s
Very poor location of controls. No control of forward speed. Only body builders should purchase this product. Is there any way I can return it for a refund?
Cons: Bad Instructions, Low Quality, Difficult To Use

Preston,
Sorry to hear you're not satisfied with your tiller purchase. Unfortunately, *Engine powered equipment cannot be returned once it has been gassed or oiled due to federal shipping regulations. You might want to consider selling it locally.

Troy Built Tillers
I bought a new tiller in 1990, it still runs great. I gave it to my son for his use and I bought me another new one for my retirement days.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Poor Handle Design And Metal Durability
I have used Troybilt's rear-tine tiller 30 times. The metal of the handle was so weak that up/down/side to side pressure made the handle break. I know to let the tiller work through the soil, but it is impossible to till without applying some pressure to the handle.
The metal is as thin as a tin can, and the design is poor.

Just As Awesome As I Remember!
I have owned a total of 3 Troy-Bilt Pony tillers. When I ordered this latest one, I was worried about using it as I have become disabled with leg and lower back problems. So I was apprehensive as I turned the key...one turn and she fired right up (whooppee, my first electric start!). I let it warm a few minutes and then throttled it down so take off would be easy while I regained my "Pony legs! Turns out the worry was for nothing. This little work horse is just as powerful and easy to... more

Only The Third One I Own
I have the Horse, the cultivator and now the Pony. I have inherited the first two from my father and plan to past all down to my son! Not a better tiller on the market, only a want to be.
Pros: Durable, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable

Not Famous Troy-bilt Quality, Not Tiller Shown In Pic
I don't think this new Troy-Bilt tiller is the same design as it used to be. It seems to be a Troy in name only. I used an older Pony as a landscape worker in the past, and have a friend with an older Pony and Horse. They all are built like tanks and do their job. I saved up for a good tiller and decided to go with the best.

I received my tiller direct no problem, and within a few days of order. I assembled and started the motor per the manual, but noticed that the transmission is not same... more

Beware Of Electric Start.
I just received and unpacked the Pony ES. I have not assembled or used the tiller yet, but I was very surprised to find out that the electric start was 110 VAC.

The specs for this tiller list the starting system as a 12-volt key start with recoil. I certainly would not have paid the extra money for the electric start if I had known it was 110 VAC. Are you supposed to run an extension cord out to your garden whenever you want to start the tiller?
