30lbs. Lighter, Plus Reverse Makes This Toro The Best
By Jeff E.

Purchased 07/17/2020 |
Review Posted 08/15/2020
This Toro not only has features like reverse, but mulches better than my previous JD. It also cuts remarkably better with its 22” blade. The pace command power drive goes up hills without needing to adjust the speed of the mower. The biggest surprise is the reduction in mowing effort by being 30+ pounds lighter.

Wanted To Love It, But Mostly Like It
By Gary N.

I love the walk at your own pace feature. This lawnmower is easy to use, and it's as fast as you want it. It's easy to start, and I love how you can store it standing up. I also love how you'll never have to change the oil.

There is room for improvement though. I love that the mower has a reverse feature, but I wish it was the rear wheels and not the front wheels that did the reversing. It's too easy to lift the front wheels when you pull back, and when that happens, the wheels just spin. I also wish the handle you held to engage the motor did not have so much pullback. It's not padded and it's a little bit tiring to hold it down all the time. I also have a Cub Cadet, and that handle is so easy to hold, you forget you are even doing it. Not with this Toro, it doesn't let you forget!

Minor complaint, you have the adjust all four wheels one at a time and the levers are pretty flimsy. I say minor, because it's likely you will only adjust them once to meet your preference for grass length.

My only other concern is a little significant. The engine seems to stall sometimes. It's odd, because it only does it when going over something bumpy like tree roots or uneven ground. I'm not sure if this is a safety feature when the lawnmower feels too much force on its blade or it thinks it's off the ground, but it's unsettling when it happens. If you are moving in a straight line on an even surface, it doesn't do it and mows just fine.

Disappointed!

The reverse feature of the mower only drives the front wheels. On hilly terrain and you need to back up the hill, pulling on the handle lifts the front wheels of the ground, rendering that feature useless.

Great Mower For Me!

I have a small garage, smart stow is great, plus the easy way to clean the deck after mowing a weedy neighbors yard helps keep my yard weed free.

Better Than I Expected
By Don S.

Finally Replaced my old Honda with Toro Personal Pace Reverse. My yard is 300' long, some steep slopes, big trees and garden blocks. 1st test was startup = 1 pull every time so far. 2nd was getting around 9 Trees (Honda was Zero Turn). Using RWD push and Power Reverse FWD coming back, it was easy. Test 3 was long straight rows. Grass was high and I cut it low with rain coming and got 2/3 acre done in 40 minutes. Best cut in years even in the rain. Mulch was awesome even with wet grass. Test 4 was backing up a couple steep slopes. Just start walking back up the hill and it comes right along. Storage is great too with the folding handle.

NOTE: If you want Reverse to function best, set your handle on the lowest angle = that way the FWD gets traction when you walk backward.

Good Concept. Poor Design.

What’s with the handle? If you hold the handle in the middle as designed, you will have carpal tunnel because of the metal handle behind it. You have to hold it on the corners and hold the cutoff bar with your index fingers to get any leverage to turn it. But there are sharp plastic parts there that cut into your palms. I had to file them down for comfort. Reverse just spins the front wheels because there is no weight in the front for traction. Starts easy enough. Wheel adjustment is easy as is switching from mulching to bagging. Will not know about the quality for a while. Gas tank is a little too small. So far I am not impressed.

This Will Be My Last Order
By Rebecca M.

Decided to order a new mower instead of having my old one tuned up. Got the Toro Recycler PoweVerse Lawn Mower Model #20355. It won't start. I made the mistake of not reading the return policy. Since I added gasoline - I'm unable to return. How was I suppose to know if the mower worked if I didn't add gasoline.

Anyway - I've ordered a lot of different equipment on line from PED but this is my last. Tomorrow - I will get my old mower a tune up and put this new one in for repair!!! In the meantime will have to pay someone to mow my lawn.

We apologize for the frustrating circumstances and appreciate you taking the time to follow up on your experience.

Though we do not know what’s going on with the mower in great detail, it's not uncommon for a spark plug to loosen up and cause starting issues, so please check the spark to ensure that it is nice and snug. Engines also commonly flood after numerous attempts to get them started. If you have yet to try and start it up following your last experience, we suggest doing so, you may be surprised.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your warranty or current state of your mower, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time. Your business is greatly appreciated, and we hope to work with you again soon.

Working Great After A Couple Of Adjustments
By Russell L.

This bad boy is working great for my old buttocks. Could NOT get it started even with on-line help, took it in to my mower guy and he performed the magical trick of HOOKING THE THROTTLE CABLE to the bale. Room room!

At first it did not pull enough while mowing so I broke down and downloaded the manual and then tightened the "go forward" cable and it's doing great. So much nicer than any mower I have had in about 50 years, and really nicely priced.

This is an upgrade for me. I previously had a Toro Recycler 22 in. High wheel front wheel drive variable speed self-propelled gas lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine model 20339 before it had the smart stow feature a couple years ago. I loved it. This model is way better. It has variable speed instead of one speed and a reverse gear to help back out of corners. It starts first pull every time!
