A Fantastic Snow Blower Built To Last
By Cooper
Michigan
Review Posted 02/17/2025
It has many features- head lite - power snow chute - electric start feature- comfortable handle - very strong powerful engine @8horse power. A very powerful machine that’s built to last for many years. There isn’t another single stage snow blower that can eat so much snow whether powered snow or wet snow with ice mixed in. I highly recommend this snow and if the 8 hp model isn’t available the 6 hp model eats snow almost as well. It even has an easy folding handle. Thanks

Bought this based on the great reviews. It snowed only once the first year after I bought it but it worked fine. The second year it wouldn't start. I had added a stabilizer to the fuel before I stored it. It cost me a lot to have it repaired. I was told that the carburetor was clogged up because I didn't drain it. Now I run stabil through it and drain it in the spring. It is under powered. My neighbor has a cheap box store blower of the same size. His makes mine look wimpy. The engine surges constantly surges constantly. The dealer said because I don't drain the gas in the spring...but I do. I will not buy Simplicity again unless they can prove that I got a one off.

Amazing Snow Blower!
By Clint M.

Review Posted 02/12/2018
Being a mechanic, engineer, and owning/working on and making nearly every type of snow blower available, this single stage machine far exceeded my expectations. I did not want a bulky 2-stage that limits my speed any longer. Instead, I wanted a powerful single stage. I am not nice to my blowers at all. I keep them outside, uncovered, and there is usually a foot of snow plus one inch of ice on them when started. With choke on and 3 primer pushes, it starts on half a pull every single time. Even my 10-year-old daughter has started it ice cold and with one hand. I have never had the chute clog, even in slush and water. Only critique is that I have no idea why they mounted the power chute rotation switch in an up and down orientation. It should push left and right, same as the chute rotation direction. Otherwise, this machine is better than all my others combined. No reason to own anything else. To those that have carburetor issues, be sure to use fuel stabilizer at twice the recommended ratio in your blower with every fill up since you don't know when the last time you are going to use it for the season is. This machine has a 2-stage type engine in a single stage chassis, which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you Briggs and Stratton (parent manufacturer) for delivering a quality product!

Carburetor Issues! Runs Rough Unless on Full Choke

This is my 3rd year owning this. 1st year ran like a champ, cleared anything I threw at it. 2nd year would not run without full choke. Took it in for service, and they could not clean the carburetor and had to buy a new one ($120 for parts and labor) and ran great the rest of the season. I followed the service tech's recommendation to run it until it ran out of gas before storing it for the season. This year back to the same carburetor issues. I took it apart and cleaned it and is running slightly better. Do I need a $120 carburetor every year? This thing is a beast when it runs correctly. I love this machine except for the engine issues.

Worst Snow Blower Ever. Second Season Thrower does not work
By Herbert F.

First Storm of second season
Not only did it take 2 minutes to start on the electric. When I went to use it for the first time the Paddle Assembly does not rotate so it can that throw the snow. What a joke.
Lucky I kept my 15 year old Craftsman and it still runs and still throws snow. Thank God for Craftsman's snow blowers, They actually blow snow more than one season.

Good! But..............

I have purchased two other snow blowers in my life for unpredictable heavy Chicago winters. Both from Sears. Both lasted me until they literally feel apart many years after I bought them. With never so much as reg maintance. So I knew what i was looking for this time around. And snowblower direct had a good selection and prices.
Now comes this purchase. Though expensive, worth it for the features. Delivery was quick, but it did come with a dent in the metal in the front from mishandling during shipping. Instead of raising a complaint, I just accepted it. The machine worked flawlessly from the start. I purchased 5/2014. I used an additive they recommend and ran it dry for storage at the end of the season.
Fast forward 2015 season it wouldn't start for the life of it. The warranty is good so there is that. But the nearest dealer to me was a half hour by expressway, (which I never thought I would need). The nice repair man said it would cost me $70 cause the warranty doesn't cover a gummed up carb. But the other problem the starter which had failed was covered. I said cool get it done. He then told me of a better gas additive to prevent this problem from happening again. Worked all winter, from the first pull. Followed directions to store for the summer.
Fast forward to 2016. Today 12/10. Add some gas to it tonight along with the additive. Plugged it in for the remote start. And again NOTHING. And the starter once again stopped working. Glad I bought the extended warranty. Hence the late review.
The engine seems to have a flaw. Either this is isolated to my product or is a overall manufacturing problem. Either way it's not what I should be getting for almost a Thousand dollars. Will have to see what the repair guy says. TBD.

Purchased the Simplicity Snow Blower in January 2016. Didn't get a chance to use it in snow until mid-February. After oil and fuel, the snow blower started on the first push. It took a few seconds to find the best run position of the choke. Used it for about 25-30 minutes clearing the driveway and walkways...flawless. Stopped the snow blower for a few minutes to talk my neighbors. Tried to restart it, and it would not start. Checked oil and fuel...everything good. Decided to wait a day to make another attempt...nothing. Contacted Snow Blowers Direct who in turn suggested that I contact Simplicity. Now it is in a repair shop for a warranty repair. Received the snow blower 40 days ago...waited 15 days to use it in the snow...30 minutes of use...20+ days of talking with Simplicity and repair shop. So far, I have spent a lot of money for frustration and a defective product.

Review Posted 02/25/2016
Purchased from Amazon about 2014 under the snapper name, The first single stage snow blower ever purchased, after years of ownership of the big two stage beast, one thing I have learned is to make sure you run out the gasoline when the season is over, they are not so forgiving.
Love this blower this last snow storm the snow was wet and heavy my neighbors was using a shovel at the end of the driveway, their single stage could not handle it , they looked on while mines blow right through it 5 stars

Belt came off on first day!
By Gregg H.

Review Posted 02/22/2016
This snow blower works great when the belt stays on. I used it on my driveway with no problem and decided to help out my neighbors. After about two hours it threw the belt.
I put it back on and it continued to fall off which eventually ruined the belt. I contacted customer service and they told me I need to take it to the dealer. Unfortunately they are 60 miles away!
I have ordered a new belt and will try this machine again. It is sad that I spent this much money and it fails on the first day. Customer service didn't even offer to replace the belt. I guess the lesson here is buy from a local dealer. At least then you can take it back.

I do apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused for you. In regards to the replacement belts, unfortunately we do not stock parts which is the reason for reference to a Simplicity service center.
With these units, there are minor adjustments that can be made to ensure the belt does not continue to fall off during use. I would recommend contacting Simplicity's technical service line (800-837-6836) for assistance in installing the new belt.
Once again I do apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your time in writing this review.
