Great Feature-Rich Mower
By Dennis F.

Review Posted 07/29/2017
Everyone hates this mower for multiple reasons but mostly because of the short battery life. I am in my 6th season of use and this battery is still going strong. There are problems with the mower but just normal wear. I wish I could find one of these dissatisfied owners so they could throw their mower toward me for parts.

Bought this mower to replace a gas mower that kept giving me trouble due to alcohol in the gas that eats at the rubber gaskets and hoses. Had this for a couple of months and it seemed to work OK. For my lawn size. But I live in Florida and it can down pour from sunshine in a second. Which it did. I could not get the unit back to the garage before it got wet. I tried to start it in the garage and it would not run.
Traded batteries out and it still would not start. I wiped it down put a hair dryer to it where the batt connects and the fuse goes in. Still no start. Left it for a few hours and it fired up but when I let go of the safety lever it kept running. I had to carefully remove the batt to shut it down. I put the battery back in and it would not start then let it set for an hour and it seems to be starting. Not sure if it will work properly or not. For the money its not very impressive. I am thinking of going back to gas and buying the expensive 100 percent gas no alcohol added. I have had Gas mowers last decades this way.

Lucky they don't sell this anymore
By Craig E.

Bought it for saving fossil fuels and bought a headache. Lucky I'm in Hawaii and kept it charged, cause if you let the battery sit too long, it poops out. Then $125.00 plus shipping ain't worth keeping it.
The rear wheel had always squeaked, and now I know why. It busted inside, and not working in manual push at all. I'm going to run it into the ground and add it to the waste dump site, which doesn't help the environment at all.
They never should have sold it in the first place Home Depot, I'm dissapointed in you for marketing this thing. Shame on you.

Get a different Ryobi Model

Surely this model is extinct. Purchased $$$ mower in 2011 and need to squeeze out a few more years to recoup the cost. The only authorized Ryobi service is 60 minutes away despite being surrounded by 6 mower repair shops who will not look at it. So now I'm doing all repairs myself now. In 2013 had to fabricate my own bearing since part was on back order. Rear axle pops out of deck plate regularly. 2014 rear wheel cracked inside so its not always self propelled and a replacement back order does not exist (yet). The battery no longer holds a strong charge for more than 20 mins., so be sure you keep a sharp blade.

Great Mower for two years

Review Posted 06/17/2014
Bought it new, worked fantastic for two years. Battery and charger died. Bill would have been $329 to replace them. Junked it. Now I have to buy a new mower. Do not buy. Replacement batteries are how to find. Thanks Ryobi.

I bought the mower thinking I would save gas and pollution. I used the mower 4 times last year and when I charged it this spring to mow the lawn the first time. The battery lasted for about 10 minutes before it went completely dead. I recharged and again it lasted for about 10 minutes and then died. When it was mowing it would not cut grass over 4 inches tall, it just bogged down and stopped. Never buy this machine.

Works great......when it actually works

The battery quality is terrible. Even when new it would not cut our lawn (which is not exceptionally large) on a single charge. As it does not charge quickly cutting the lawn becomes a several day proposition. The battery has totally gone after just over a year. I am debating whether to replace the battery or heave the thing in the trash. Save your money and look at other options.

Don't buy this item unless you are willing to let it sit

Bought it brand new. Used it twice. Wouldn't charge. Took it to a warranty service center. 5 months later I'm still waiting for the part to come from China. Ryobi will not do anything to expedite the problem. They have a take it or leave it attitude.

Great green technology. Fast recharge (10 min) and decent 45 min run time. As strong as a gas mower but without the dependence and maintenance of fossil fuel mowers. The battery should last over 5 years with normal use and a replacement is about $125 eliminating the need to purchase a completely new machine. Just need a battery and you are off. Only drawback is the battery run time. Wish is was at least 90 min but it recharges pretty quickly.
