What requirements are needed to power this pump with a generator during a power outage?

Answer

Based on the running amp and LRA of this pump, and per Liberty tech support, we would not suggest using anything less than a 10,000 watt rated generator to handle that Liberty LSG202A pump. For best results, a Standby Generator powered by natural gas or liquid propane would activate automatically upon a power loss. A gas powered Portable Generator would need to be set up and "wired" in after a loss of power.

IS THERE A LIST OF ITEMS NOT TO BE FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET TO PREVENT PROBLEMS WITH THE GRINDER PUMP?

Answer

That is a very good question, MJ! Not that I am aware of. That being said, I guess it would be more common sense when you think of what would actually fit down the toilet. Obviously anything with an extremely hard construction like steel or cast iron or even hard plastics could pose a problem if they get pulled into the grinding blades. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

Answer

In most cases, a typical sewage pump should handle a single basement bathroom. Our Wayne 1/2 HP Cast Iron Sewage Pump (2") w/ Piggyback Tether Float, model RPP50 is our most popular pump for that application. IF however, you have problems with items getting jammed in your pump like heavy toweling or latex or feminine products, the Liberty 1 HP ProVore® Residential Grinder Pump (2") w/ Piggyback Tether Float, model PRG101A would be a good option for you.

I am trying to decide between the LSG202A and the LSG202M. It is for our home. We have a 3600 square foot house and 4 people live here. We are replacing the 110 pump that was put in when the house was built as the house is on grade that is lower than the city sewage line. We did not have an alarm or controller on the old system. I understand that the LS202A is automatic and the LS202M is manual and requires purchase of a separate controller. What would be the rationale for getting one versus the other?

Answer

Thank you for visiting Water Pumps Direct. In all honesty, would be better off replacing your pump with one that matches the HP and GPH rating of of your current pump. The Liberty LSG Series Grinder Pump is designed strictly for high head (100+ feet) applications, which typically include commercial and/or industrial. 95% - 99% of residential applications will do just fine with a standard sewage pump. If you really believe that you do in deed require a grinder pump, you might look at the Liberty PRG SERIES pump.
