Most Helpful Positive Review
As Described
Just installed took some time, but installed as instructed and fit correctly. Have not utilized during snow to date, but it appears to be of good quality and will serve its purpose of being saved from wind blowing everything in our face!

Good Quality Item & Works Well, Install Was Not Very Easy
Good quality item and works well, install was not very easy on my 36" snowblower. The problem was the bars to hold the cab in place were not wide enough, so I had to crank on the bolts that hold them there to keep them in place without the cab drooping. I was a little worried I'd break the metal or strip out the bolts. It seemed to push the limit on what is possible. It probably works just fine on smaller models.
Pros: Durable, High Quality Cons: Bad Instructions, Didn't fit very well on my 36 Jonathan Recommends This Ariens ProductJonathan's Experience With Power Equipment Direct "I had to call about shear bolts being backordered and why it stopped the shipment of my snowblower, but otherwise it was a good experience." more Was this review helpful? 1 0 |

Works Great...with Mods
I had heard poor reviews from family, friends, and online. Took a chance. Before it came I expected the issue of headlight glare off the inside of the cab, and was already thinking of how to solve it. Other reviews detail this as well. I used an old, black 3 ring binder, cut one cover off along with the end part. If fit almost perfectly in the gap from the console to the bottom of the cab, and over the top of the light. I cut all but a little flap off of the end piece, and made a tab that slid right into a gap on the console. Then I used 2 zip ties and secured the cover to the cab frame.
It blocks the light glaring off the inside of the cab, which blinded you. After patting myself on the back, I wondered why they didn't just make it that way in the first place. Seems like they should know this is a flaw and improve the design. My mod design would be easy to incorporate into the design in a better way.
The materials are solid quality, but the cab frame doesn't secure as well as you'd like, and can slip down. I really had to crank down on the bolts to secure it in place and have it stay there, and be careful to not strip the bolts. Now that I fixed it, this cab is great, and I'm blowing snow in dry comfort. They get a generous 3 star for the quality of materials. Without some rigging this thing would be junk. Buyer beware. Cab Does Not Stay In Position
I am on my 2nd year with this cab and I have had a lot of trouble with it coming down on my head. The clamps have been torqued to the max.
It still works it's way down to the top of my head. The cab lacks a feature to hold it up. A cross bar of some sort would be nice.
I am using bungee cords now to hold it in position.
The cab does protect the operator real well but lacks good engineering to hold it all in position.
Pros: Durable, Price, Light Weight Cons: Difficult To Use, Unreliable Mert Does Not Recommend This ProductWas this review helpful? 7 9 |

Worthless, Won't Stay In Place, Short Sides
I purchased a Ariens 414 cc 30 inch cut Platinum. Finally got some snow and the cab keeps moving down hitting my head. I tightened the bolts several times and it kept coming down on my head. I then drilled holes and put bolts which solved that problem. The next problem was the sides are short and don't really make a big difference when it comes to keeping the wind away.
The front of the cab lines up perfectly with the rear of the engine. Which causes the snow to pile up on the recoil and gas tank. My previous cab was cheaper and worked much better. We get a lot of snow living in the lake effect area off Lake Ontario. I had the cab installed by the Ariens Dealer. I purchased a Ariens 414 cc 30 inch cut Platinum. Solid Unit
The alternative cheaper units I researched described how their products easily ripped and didn't hold up. This Ariens is solid and feels like it will be durable even though I have only used it once. The one time I have used it the winds were 30mph gusting to 50mph and it was solid and big enough to keep the wind off me so I was warm.
No snow blew in my face!!! The unit does need to be tight to the snow blower so it doesn't slide lower with the first use. No big deal though I just tightened the bolts after the first use. The one thing I don't like is my Ariens comes with a built in counsel light and this light reflects about half the light onto the inside of the cab and makes it hard to see the edges I'm snow blowing. I will have to figure out some kind of visor for the light. The alternative cheaper units I researched described how their products easily ripped and didn't hold up.
