I bought this 2 years ago and the oiler pump suddenly went out. Called Remington directly and went to a local dealer. This part is not available, so $95 down the drain.

Wanna be Logger Turned City Boy
By Matt M.
Englewood, Colorado
Purchased 03/15/2015 |
Review Posted 04/27/2015
As the headline says, I'm a wanna be logger. Nobody is knocking at my door to make a show about my wood cutting efforts, but I did live on a Ranch in the mountains with plenty of trees and lots of Beetle Kill. Being in the mountains did not lend itself to electrical cords and tools. I was a gas man! I loved the bar oil and stinky blue smoke. Made me feel like a real man and I wore it like aftershave. The jingle of spark plugs in my pocket was music to my ears.
Well, that was a long time ago. The ranch is still around and so is my old chainsaw. It still works, after a day of beating on it and small engine repair and winters of sleepless nights worrying about the carburetor and gas stability. I'm in the burbs now, living on a nice sized lot. I keep a close eye on my overly large Juniper bushes, cedar fence repairs, raised gardens and other miscellaneous projects around the house. My wife doesn't like my aftershave of yesteryear and the neighbors don't exactly like huffin' blue smoke.
What's a man of my gas powered tool loving nature supposed to do?
Yep. I found this website, got my man purse out and bought an electric chainsaw with some serious hesitation.
The price couldn't be beat. The promise of power, size, and reliability minus the mess, noise, smell, etc., was enticing - but c'mon. I had zero expectations, and frankly, I thought the money I just spent was for testing purposes only.
I recently took down several large sections of a cedar fence and had an unsightly pile building up. I knew the problem needed to be addressed, so I pulled out this electric gizmo. I put some regular oil in the tank and plugged it in. I pulled the trigger and... the sound was different. There was no smell. There was no familiar buck as I pulled the trigger.
I brought that bar down on a nice stack of cedar and it melted through it like butter. Nice big chunks of sawdust mulched the ground. The pile disappeared. I think my neighbors were enjoying a mornin coffee outside on their patio. They knew I was over there, but they asked me what I was doing.
Seriously? You didn't know I was blasting through that massive pile of wood with this here chainsaw?
I could go on, and on with this story, but here's the bottom line. This chainsaw works better than any gas powered device I've ever used. I own allot of garden tools, and I'm always evaluating their performance. Far as this saw goes, I'm trying to break it. I'm trying to burn it out. I'm trying to dislike the thing, but I can't and I love it. Price isn't even a concern. There are more expensive ones on this site and they probably have their place.
Will I be humping this up the mountains knocking down beetle kill? No. The cord won't reach. Will I be buying this for my Dad who still lives up there and is still cutting firewood by the barn? Yes. Will his chainsaw maintenance nightmares disappear like mine did? Yes.
The only question I have now is, can I write this review 20 years later and feel the same way? Doubtful, but only because I know technology will have advanced even further.
Just buy it.
You can thank me later.

Wow, that's such a great story. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with this electric chainsaw!
Just like you, many others find themselves hesitant to buy an electric chainsaw. However, when folks take the time to write a review and share their experience, it really helps others who are on the fence about it.
We're so happy that it's working out for you, and we hope to help you with other power equipment needs in the future.
Thanks again for sharing, and best wishes for a fantastic summer.

Fits the Bill - Great for maintaining property
By David T.

This is my first electric chain saw. I cleared my property (1 and a half acres of mesquite and hack berry trees) with a gas powered chain saw. Since then I have used a pole saw and chain saw to keep my remaining trees trim.
I was skeptical of the power of an electric chain saw but didn't really need the more expensive gas powered saw. This saw fits my needs perfectly and does a good job. Wouldn't use it to clear a piece of land but it is great for maintaining property.

From gas to electric

For the price, which is under $100, you can't go wrong. Just don't overwork or push it too hard to where the motor burns up. Let it cut it's own way without pressure and give it and yourself a break every 5 min or so and it will last quite a while. This is my 3rd one in about 8-9 yrs and I cut a LOT of wood.
Six chords a year for my wood stove, plus trimming and felling trees up to 24" in diameter on my 1+ acre wooded lot. The last two gas saws I had for twice the price, a poulan and some japanese one, burned out the heads in the first month. Also, a lot less vibration than a gas saw. Very important if you want to help prevent or in my case go easy on carpal tunnel syndrome.

This saw works but the cutting teeth are spaced too far apart. And it is hard to see the oil level through the window provided.

North Carolina ice storm. Lots of branches some hefty. Bought this chain saw with great fear of doing chop job by myself. Saw made it easy for a city boy like myself.
