Answer
Thank you for your inquiry....
It is not recommended to connect 2 generator power cords together for a longer length. The middle connection point would not be safe or provide a watertight connection. It is recommended to purchase one cord the length you require.
Where is the Reliance Controls 30-Amp (4-Prong 40-Foot) Generator Power Cord made? Can I be guaranteed the black cord shown?

Answer
Thank you for your inquiry!
Reliance Controls, like many manufacturers has their power cords manufactured at an overseas production facility however, the cords are designed and tested here in the United States.
If you should purchase a PC3040, you will be receiving a black power cord featuring pre-molded cable ends as pictured here.

I'm thinking of buying Reliance 30amp/10circuit switch model# 31410CRK & a 40' power cord. Does power cord come in longer length? Will there be any power loss with 40'(or longer length) cord from 7000W portable generator to switch? Thank you

Thank you for your interest in Electric Generators Direct!
We currently offer a wide variety of 30 amp power cords ranging from 10' to 100'. While voltage drops may occur over extended distances, it is unlikely that you will experience much loss over a 40' run. Keep in mind however, factors such as the material of the conductor and even the outdoor ambient temperature may have some effect on this variable.
We would not recommend that you use anything longer than the PC3040 if you plan on utilizing most of the generators 7000 watts.

Answer
There were substitute cords offered last year in September-December due to the demand driven by Hurricane Irene. Stock levels are back to normal again so the cords should be black and the right length now.

I have an 8000 watt run/10,000 watt surge generator. Do I need a cable rated for 10,000 watts? I only see 7500 watts on your site.

Answer
You simply match your power cord to the largest outlet on your generator.
If you have a 50-Amp outlet, you'll need a 50-Amp cord.
