Answer
Thank you for your inquiry....
It is not recommended to connect 2 generator power cords together for a longer length. The middle connection point would not be safe or provide a watertight connection. It is recommended to purchase one cord the length you require.
I have a Generac GP 5500 portable, and I want to connect it to my power inlet box to supply power to my house in case of an emergency. The issue I have is my power inlet box is a 50 amp instead of 30, so the female end of the cord needs to be a 50amp 3 prong instead of the 30 amp 4 prong. The question is if I purchased this cord, could I buy a 50 amp adapter with a female end to replace the one on this cord?

Answer
Thank you for your interest in Electric Generators Direct!
Unfortunately the configuration which you have described is not available. Also, there are not adapters that would support this configuration.
If you wish to connect your GP5500 to your home's energy grid, then we would recommend that you have the 50 amp receptacle replaced with a 30 amp 4-prong connection. This will allow you to take full advantage of your generators output while maintaining, a simple and efficient configuration.
