Poulan Pro PLN1510 Reviews & Ratings
Working Like A Champ For 7 Years

I have been using mine since 2011 and yes, I have abused it. I have used it to cut roots, vines and branches. I have trimmed my oaks many times now using it. I take the saw off of the pole a lot. I did not find it hard to remove or reinstall. My oiler works fine. It is a little awkward to have it fully extended and cutting a tall branch. I always balance it on my ladder and I still have all of my fingers and toes.

Bought the PLN-1510 a couple of years ago. For a handy cut saw for shrubs and bushes it is great, but overhead branch cutting is hard to control. Needs a counter weight to make it stable. I have used it and abused it, cut roots in the dirt with it, then cleaned it, replaced the chain and it kept going. Great for casual gardeners with a few trees to trim. The oilier is a piece of junk, never worked. Just lube the chain bar before a cut and you are fine. Too bad it's no longer available but the PLN-1510 was not for everyone. You need to know how to fix things to own any chainsaw.

I bought my Poulian 1510 pole chain saw after a comparable Remington model failed where the plastic nut that tightens to set the adjustable length pole failed and Remington would not supply a replacement part. Well, after a few hours use, the Poulian's plastic pole-adjustment nut failed too. It appears that both models were designed to fail.

I am amazed at how easy it now is to trim limbs away from the house!
I have been using a 12 foot hand trimmer for years. Ever since I received and have been using my PLN 1510, my jobs are completed in record time!

Just Sold IT

Got as a Christmas Present and used three time for a couple of hours each - then it stopped working. After two months, got a replacement unit which I just sold.
Biggest problem is the round extension pole. You can't tighten the extension pole enough to prevent the saw head from spinning around, it is impossible to control the blade angle from the handle.

Calligan Tree & Turf Care

I bought this saw from a bog box store a couple years ago. I figured for $200 how could I go wrong? I needed to make a couple cuts under 3 inches in diameter and one 6 inch diameter cut.
The saw worked okay with the smaller cuts but failed miserably when I tried to cut through the 6 inch branch. The saw was a total piece of crap, fortunately the big box store refunded my money.
My advice- spend more money and get a better saw!
CSD RESPONDS: There's a reason why this saw is called a Pruner. It's meant for SMALL limbs and branches only. A 6" branch should be handled with several smaller cuts to bring it down to a manageable size.

TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK
By STEVE
COVINGTON, Georgia
Review Posted 06/13/2011
First let me say, I live on a farm that is about 12 miles from the nearest store or town (24 miles round trip). I went to purchase this saw, thought it had everything you needed. Got home to find out it did not have any chain saw oil. No where on the box does it state "Chain Saw Oil needed, Not included". So I had to drive all the way back into town, another 24 miles round trip, to get the oil. Got back home, put oil in the saw, and went out to give it a try. Plugged it in and started to cut a small branch, less than 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and within 20 to 30 seconds, it started to spark, motor started smoking and it just died. Oh, I forgot to state they say the saw can be removed from the pole very easy and used by itself. That is a total lie. You have to undue 4 bolts, take two panels off before you can do that. Then putting the pole back on is not that easy either. So, now I have to drive another 24 miles to return it. I called Poulan's customer service to let them know the problems I had. After waiting on the phone for about 10 minutes I get CUSTOMER NO SERVICE. A young man takes the call and never asked my name, number, product or anything. I started to explain the problem and what was his response, "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT". For real that was his answer. So, I questioned if this was the way Poulan handled their customers and guess what, he hung up on me. So, that made me very angry and I called back. Asked for a supervisor and explained what had happened. They record all phone conversations and she asked for my phone number and will be able to go back and hear the complete conversation. That young man should be glad he has a job. Maybe he will once he is unemployed without being able to file for unemployment. Must of just been having a bad Monday. Anyway, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK" If you do beware.
