what is the difference between a sewer injector pump and a sump pump? can i use the same pump for each activity? thanks

Answer
Sewer ejector pumps will generally provide a higher pumping capacity and the ability to pump up to 2 inch solids whereas most sump pumps max out at about 5000-6000GPH and MAY only handle small solids up to 1/2 of an inch. Please keep in mind however, that your sewage ejector pumps also require a 2 inch discharge pipe to be installed to achieve the above stated specs. Use of a sewage ejector pump in a sump application is fairly common for high pumping capacity applications as long as the discharge is installed correctly. You do NOT want to use a sump pump in a sewage application however!!

Can you set the on depth and off depth on the dual sensor switch, like on at 1/2 ft and off at 3"?

Answer
The dual float switch actually works on a timer once the float is raised a 1/4" from it's original position. Once the float is raised, it will activate the pump. Once the float is back in it's original position, the pump will operate for an additional 10 seconds and stop until the pump is activated again. You can set the level at which you want the pump to activate however.

Per the instructions for the Pro Series S3100:

Position the float switch to a level where the bottom of the float cage is no lower than 3 above the bottom of the pump and no higher than 1 below the top of the pit. To avoid debris pouring into the float, it should be positioned on the side of the discharge pipe opposite the drain tile. Note: It is important to mount the float below the drain tile that empties into the pit. Mounting it above the drain tile would allow water to fill the drain tile before the pump is activated to pump out the water.

for my cabin i need a sump pump that will have a lift of 40 ft and less than 10 gaper minute. the distance is 42 feet. what size of discharge pipe will be needed and also a check valve thank you

Answer
The Pro Series model S3100 is the only sump pump we currently offer that is capable of pumping a 40 foot vertical lift (max. 50Ft.), however it will be pumping at approximately 32 GPH at that height. that pump requires a 2" discharge and check valve.

What is a dual vertical sensor switch?
Mitch Miller
from Montana

Answer
The dual float switch contains two large floating rings enclosed within a protective cage. Water will lift the bottom float by a 1⁄4, which will activate the pump. If for any reason the lower float does not activate the pump, the water will rise and
activate the second switch. As the pump evacuates the water from the pit the floats will drop. The pump will run for an additional 10 seconds to extend the cycle after the lower float drops.
Note: When mounting the float switch, position the
bottom of the cage at the height you want the pump to activate.
