Broke on 3rd use
By Chris M.

Pull cord assembly broke on third use. Took to service place where mowers direct recommended and they wouldn't cover the part or labor. Cost $59 to fix brand new mower. Would not recommend MTD. Buy a toro, wish I did

Sorry about the pull cord but this should have been covered by warranty i would recommend calling MTD directly and they will probably reimburse you with the proper paperwork.

I have had a yardman for 12 years and still running but wanted a self propelled. I have been researching for quite a while I saw this one at a great price so I bought it. It was easy to order, came faster that promised and was exactly what I ordered. put together in 1/2 hour and was ready to go. This is a solid mower.

My old mower was better!
By Herman S.
Indian Land, South Carolina

Review Posted 04/22/2016
After owning a Yard-Man mower for about 12 years I decided it was about time to let it go. The deck was rested out and the height adjustment devices were rusted and difficult to use but it still usually started on the first pull, even after setting during the winter. Hoping a newer mower would be better, I made the plunge. My new mower took several pulls to start at first but that improved with time. It still rarely starts on the first pull.
The height adjustment work great but are made of a flimsy plastic and will probably not last long. The go bar is perhaps the greatest downgrade. My old mower had a push bar on top of the handle which was comfortable to hold for extended use. The new mower has a thin rod on the underside of the handle which requires an extended stretch of your hand to engage and is uncomfortable to hold for long periods. Never the less, my new mower was a good price and at 74 maybe I'll wear out before it does.

Received beautiful new mower that would not start. Had to put in shop for 3 weeks because it was warranty work. Charged $20.00 dollars to look at it couldn't find anything wrong. Got it home it started got to mow for one hour and it will not start. Sure wish I had a mower I could use.

Bought on clearance discontinued model

Most notable comment, this mower does not have a priming bulb, so it will be difficult to start out of the box because you first need to evacuate the air trapped in the fuel line.
Remove the spark plug and pull the start cord a couple of times to evacuate the trapped air reinstall the spark plug and it'll start right away.
Other than that a no frills mower but effective cut and mulch the first time out. I liked the price 260.00 included tax and shipped. So hopefully i get 5 or so year's of service and ill be pleased with the purchase.
