Review Posted 08/15/2023
The shipping was fast it only took about 5 days from ordering. It came ready to run and so far seems to be very reliable quiet and produces more than enough to run the small shop I've got.

Had to return the first one because of damage in shipping. Took time to work things out and do the return and then receive a replacement. Much better results the second time around. I would have been a lot more upset had I needed the compressor for a business but fortunately it was for a home shop. It's not as quiet as my old one but it's tolerable as it sits in another section of my building. I can only give it an average rating as I haven't really had it long enough to rate it otherwise.

So Far So Good

We've had the compressor running for about a month now. About 2 weeks into it, the cover plate on the motor started leaking oil. We simply tightened the cover and it stopped the leaking. The compressor was very quiet the first week or so and then suddenly it became noticeably louder. The oil level never got below full and the leak was more seepage than anything.

This is an awesome compressor, I have a mobile repair service and have to bring the more serious work back to the shop.
Builds air quick, and holds...! Great for air tools, air cut off tools and air lifts, well made unit, price wise its right were the others are, good cfm and scfm rating. I'd buy again.
Do.....get the lift gate service!!!!!!! This delivers by way of semi truck so make sure you have room for delivery.

Great Garage Compressor
By Pete B.

Review Posted 02/07/2016
I bought one of a few months back. I've piped the garage with black pipe and we are off to the races. Compressor is fairly quiet and reaches capacity fairly quick. This thing is leagues above my old 30 gallon direct drive model.
I did do a little digging on the specs. From what I have found the compressor is capable of 150 PSI and the tank MAWP is 170 PSI. The pressure relief valve on the tanks is rated for 160 PSI. Mind you I see no need to push the machine past 135 PSI but I think it could be pushed a little harder if it was absolutely necessary.
I have mine set to cut in @ 95 PSI and out @ 135 PSI and it works great.

Quality Shop Compressor
By Andy H.

Review Posted 09/22/2013
Bought the 3.2hp-60gal Iron Horse Compressor back in 2005 locally. I am very happy with it. The quality and durability are superb!
I've stripped and painted 2 vehicles since then. I've run it 4-5 hours straight a few times and it gets hot, but no issues. It's still on the original belt, finish is still perfect, pressure switch and shut off switch are still good. Bleed valve on the bottom still seals nicely.
I would say it is medium-loud but it doesn't sound like it's destroying itself when it's running. Some compressors you just have to leave the room when they're running, this one you don't. I run mine on 220V. I blow out the filters once in a while and change the oil just once a year.
Volume wise, I can run a Craftsman DA nonstop and it doesn't fall below 80psi while trying to keep up. I still wish it had a few more CFM, but I have no regrets.
I've had a lot of friends with Sanborns (from Menards) and Craftsman compressors that didn't last a year or were so terribly noisy that they returned them.
I expect this to still be running strong in another 10 years and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

CFM vs. Maximum pressure rating

The compressor works fine, however the maximum working pressure is only 135 psi, not the listed 150 psi in the specs.

Expert Response
The “Max. Pressure” specification on air compressors is not the maximum working pressure, it is the maximum pressure the tank is rated for. It is the same for every air compressor on our site, and is based on information provided by the manufacturers.
The maximum function of each air compressor is described by the CFM (cubic feet per minute) at a specific pressure- 40 PSI, 90 PSI, and/or 100 PSI, depending on the size of the air compressor pump. For example, this air compressor is rated to produce 11.2 CFM @ 90 PSI.
This is so you can determine the air tools the compressor can run, since they are rated by the air they consume, in CFM.
