Good mower
By Nate R.
Flickerville, Pennsylvania

Review Posted 09/30/2014
After doing the necessary adjustments, the mower performs well. The only complaint I have is that on a side hill (not steep), it has a tendency for the upper wheel to spin. I may try to lower the tire pressure to see if this helps.
The reports that it would take many hours to remove it from the crate are true. It is either long, difficult (for an old arthritic man) hours, or you recruit several neighbors to help. However, I do appreciate that this reduces damage both evident or unseen.
I like the very tight turning radius as it almost eliminates the need to circle or back up to make a turn.

Husqvarna mowers are dependable and a great value. I ordered the mower on a Sunday, and it was delivered the following Friday. No issues whatsoever. Mowers Direct delivered as promised, and I will order from them the next time I need an accessory.
Great service!

Love this Mower

Was really tired of trying to keep my Murray alive and found this site. The price was so much better than anything I could find locally, so I couldn't pass it up.
The mower works so much better than my old 42" did when it was new. The no tax and free shipping were a great benefit as well. I will definitely be recommending this site and this mower to family and friends.

Great mower

Reviewed a lot of mowers and places to buy them. This was the best overall. Had they given a military discount, this really would've been tops of everyone.

I bought this mower about a month ago and have used it about 4 times and works great. The hydrostatic transmission is just amazing. I love that aspect. I would never go back to anything else. Mower comes fully assembled (we just bought the bagger elsewhere and put that on). More then I wanted to pay for a mower, but I wanted quality and hopefully it lasts for many years.

Lots Of Power
By Raymond B.
Batavia, Ohio
Purchased 07/14/2014 |
Review Posted 08/05/2014
Like the mower a lot. Lots of power to cut through my yard's thick grass, and it is FAST, so my cutting time has come down, and my days between cuts has increased -- can let grass get higher.
Very nice product and great service. Happy to buy all my mowers at MD.
Much happier with this mower that the Craftsman LT200 I bought less than three years ago and it died. Do not buy Sears, and they did nothing to stand behind their product.

Some Small Issues, But I Would Pick It Again!
By Jim
Winder, Georgia
Review Posted 02/24/2014
Pros: Quality, features, and comfort rates with anyone else in this price range. The step through frame makes it easy for me to mount and dismount the mower even with a physical disability. More than enough power for a 48 inch cut in residential areas. I added the rear weight kit (50lbs) and a 20lb steel plate to the rear of the mower to keep wheel spin down on uneven slopes. I also added the front brush guard to keep from damaging the hood and front of the mower when mowing in tight areas. The guard also made the mower look much more stylish.
The adjustable seat works very well and has plenty of range for a lot of different heights, I'm 6'1" and it still have even more leg room to offer then I need. I wasn't sure if I'd like the foot operated hydro-trans after operating several fender mounted models over many years, but it's far better now that I know what I've been missing (like an extra hand). Steering is light, tight, and quick. And one of my favorite pros is that you can set the key switch to a position that allows you to reverse the mower with the blade engaged. Other items like: cast iron front axle, anti-scalp wheels, deck wash port, hour meter, ground speed control, and a cup holder only hold extra value to this rider.
Cons: Hard to start. The battery won't take many "bump" starts before it won't turn the motor over any more even when it's fully charged. I've found that I need to keep it fully charged, set the choke to full on and then engage the starter for what I think should take longer then necessary. After a few seconds the engine will start, you just have to stay grinding with it the first time. I've even tried a brand new battery with the same results.
The fuel level window is not very easy to read without very good lighting. Also, after consulting with the people at PED, the weight kit they recommended, which consists of the rear bracket (531 30 81-53) and weight (954 04 01-02), is designed like an after thought. I'm not sure why they don't have a weight kit that fits inside each wheel rim, it would put the extra weight out wide and down low on each wheel where it should be. What I have now, while it does work pretty well, acts more like leverage behind the rider. It puts the weight higher then need be, and if I change directions very quick, it will raise the front tires on flat ground. This makes going up hill a very "cautious" procedure.
