Product QuestionsAnswered by Dale, the Leaf Blower Expert
Hi Joe -- What is the best measure of a leafblower's power? I am trying to understand why the Husqvarana 350BT is considered more powerful than the 150BT because it appears that the 150BT and the 350BT have the same CFM (494) but the 150BT has a higher air speed than the 350BT. I understand that the 350BT is more durable but I cannot understand why it would be considered more powerful than the 150BT. Thanks.

Answer
Quan,
You, my friend, win the perceptive shopper award today. You chose such a fine example too. On paper, the Husqvarna 150BT and the 350BT appear remarkable similar. All of the specifics matching up across the board. Except for that pesky air speed. You may hear a lot of people talk about how important that air speed is, and they are partially correct. Air speed is a direct measure of engine size and power. But the true measure of a good leaf blower is shown by what will move your debris...Air Volume or CFMs.
In the case of the Husqvarna 150 vs. 350, you will see that the 350BT has a more commercial design allowing a similar size engine to work less to achieve the same air volume. This leads to longer run times with less engine wear.

I am looking for a good quality blower that my wife can easily start. Is the Husky that blower? Her favorite gift of all time was a Stihl saw that is incredibly easy to start. I need the same thing for a blower.

Answer
Randy,
The easiest backpack leaf blower I can recommend is the Dolmar PB-7601.4. 2-cycles always will present more start-up issues than a 4-cycle engine will. Dolmar is an amazing German company who is credited for inventing and patenting the first chainsaw ever. So to say they know a thing or two about small engines is an understatement.
To make life even easier, Dolmar has one of the most durable, and reliable "spring assisted" recoil starts on the market. It has to be felt to be believed. She will be running this with ease whether anyone is around or not.

IF YOU PLEASE REGARDING THE Husqvarna 50 cc 2 cycle leaf blowers WHICH 350 VS 150BT FROM WHAT I SAW ON A BOX THE 150 SAID +/- 240MPH AND 700+ ON CFM.
WOODY
from South Carolina

Answer
Woody,
I believe the reading of around 700 CFM for the 350BT is a reading taken inside of the blower's housing with all of the tubing removed. That reading is rarely helpful to anyone since you are not using a blower minus all of the air direction.
Our listing of 494 CFM for the 350BT is the air volume out of the nozzle.

On the Husqvarna 350BT model are the handle controls able to lock in at full throttle of half throttle so that you don't have to hold down the trigger the entire time while using the blower?
Mark W.

October 24, 2013
Answer
Mark, You are in luck my friend. You are able to adjust the idle speed and it sets where ever you leave it. This feature is on the tube mounted unit (350BT) and the frame-mounted unit (350BF).

Looking at the Husqvarna 50 cc 2 cycle leaf blower at $ 319.99. Anything better out there for the same price?
Jim Kostinas

Answer
Jim,
I just looked at everything we have at that price range, and the 350BT shows up at the most powerful, and the most durable. I have personally used this machine and have recommended it to several friends and family members, and have yet to hear even a single complaint about this unit.

What is the difference between the 150bt and the 350bt blowers?
Phil
from New York
October 18, 2013
Answer
Phil, The 150BT and the 350BT from Husqvarna may appear similar on paper in their descriptions, but please do not let that fool you. The 150BT was designed primarily for residential use, where the 350BT was built more with a commercial application in mind. The 350BT has more reinforcements around the engine and more durable motor housing. The difference in housing is what also creates more CFMs, and this volume of air will clean up leaves more efficiently.

The video does' not show the mixing with the gas and the oil. Could you explain a little bit about it?
Frank
from Georgia
October 06, 2013
Answer
Frank,
The process is fairly simple. First find a gas can that you will allocate for mixed fuel only. Then put one gallon of the highest quality fuel you can find. You are looking for the lowest ethanol you can buy, E10 being the highest you can use. Do not use anything higher that 10% ethanol, it will damage your engine. For every one gallon of fuel you use, use a very high quality 2-cycle engine oil (JASO rated). Put 2.56 oz. of oil mixed with each gallon you intend to use.
Please do not use gas older than 2 weeks and find the highest quality engine oil you can.
Mix them together in the can and give a light swish mixing the contents together. Add this mixture when you need to fuel your blower.

Does this model just blow or does it have the vacuum feature as well?
Pam Dillon
from Kansas
October 05, 2012
Answer
Pam - none of the backpack blowers have a vacuum option. They would all be strictly blowers. If you are looking for something with a vacuum option, you would need to look at a hand held model instead of a backpack model.
