Perfect Trimmer!
By JD

Review Posted 05/11/2022
Mine still performs like brand new even after a decade of trimming 3 acres with rocks, fences and you name it here. Still has its OEM T35 head it came with and I trim everything here including both sides of chain link/horse fences. I never replaced a single piece on this trimmer nor on its head yet. Still starts 1st- 2nd pull every time even on my first spring starts after sitting all winter long. I did adjust carb when I got it, toll is sold online. Only time my line ever tangled/stuck inside was from my loading too much string in the head or wound too tightly. Thats operator error not head design and it was only in the very beginning till I learned not to do either. I've used Arnold orange Xtreme .95 for yrs with no issues, it's strong stuff, never jams up from welding I love it! I even bought another T35 for my Shindaiwa trimmer because I liked this head so much, ok also because their homeowner Speed Feed heads are total junk too so maybe I hated theirs so much I swapped it out..lol My 2nd Professional grade T35 also performed problem free yrs now too. I'm old enough to own the 1st grass trimmer (Weedeater) made in the 70's, I had their biggest/best at the time, that unit was still running great 25yrs later when I gave it away due to its heavyweight. I bought more property so it worked me harder. Ok' truth is I got older, fatter and weaker so I wanted a lightweight model? HAPPY NOW?..lol These sure do beat the old grass scissors, don't they? As far as starter coils breaking I never had that because I know what causes it to happen #1) The rope is too short and/or it's being pulled all the way out!! When ropes are pulled all the way out then it stops suddenly during "full pull", this force either damages coils or your string breaks. Never ever pull any pull rope out completely or this is the damage you get. Operators also tend to grab their pull handle and yank their rope out as hard as they can. This snaps ropes & breaks handles. "Always" pull a rope out gently an inch or so until you feel tension to start, once you feel it catch then you pull the rope out from that spot. Not while the rope is still fully in. I promise once you actually learn how to pull start an engine right your handle, rope and recoil will last decades not a yr or two. Seen this damage weekly, because for 20yrs I repaired trimmers/chainsaws/mowers/gens/tractors etc. Husqvarna makes great trimmers, especially their Pro line trimmers!

Tough Yet Light And Dependable

I've owned mine for over seven years and have never had a problem with it. It starts on the second or third pull, depending on how long it's been since I last used it. I use synthetic oil to mix in my gas and always use Sta-bil during and between seasons. I use Husqvarna .095 titanium line and have had very few line feeding problems. I love it because it's light weight and I can even use it one handed at times. This is on par with more expensive trimmers and is well worth the money over the cheaper brands.

Poorly Designed Starter Recoil
By Fred

Review Posted 05/21/2016
I'm a home owner, and this is my 2nd year having the trimmer. I can't say I have used it a lot, however this year the starter recoil failed to retract the cord.

I fixed it using new parts only to have it fail after one use. Had a pro make the repair with the same result. Both the Pro & I agree there is a design problem.

Great Choice....Terrible Line Feed
By Richard M.

Review Posted 05/11/2016
This lives up to all the great ratings, including Consumer Reports, it received. Starts on the second pull every time. Runs great and is very powerful. My only complaint would be the line feed system. I purchased this less than a month ago. The only way to get the line out is to turn it off, take the head off and unwind the amount of line you need and put the head back on.

I am going to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a universal head where you pre-cut your line and it just clips in. The owner of a lawn service told me this was the only way to go plus it is not good to keep beating the bottom on the ground trying to get the line feed to work. I would highly recommend this trimmer though. One word of caution....it is not for your mother to use!! This is a commercial grade machine and it can get away from you if you are not careful. I would definitely buy this model again.

Best Trimmer i've Had!

Having worn out three Weed Eater trimmers in recent years, I wanted something better. The customer reviews were positive, illustrating the more heavy duty capabilities of this Trimmer. It cost over twice what I paid for the Weed Eaters. But, I'm hoping I won't need to replace it anytime soon... I've only used it a couple of hours but so far so good.

Great Trimmer

Recently moved from a home with a small 1/3 acre lot where I used an inexpensive electric model to a 1.5 acre lot where I needed the power and mobility of a trimmer like this. PED reviews and other customer ratings were spot on for this trimmer and I realized all the same pros.

I have not had the problem with the only "con" regarding the hot exhaust, but I am sure that could be a concern with any two stroke device where the motor is in such close proximity to the operator's hands and arm. I'd advise to wear some better protective gear if that is a concern.

Light weight, well balanced and powerful for the size
By George Cook

My primary reason for choosing this brand is based on previous good experience / ownership with a Husqvarna chainsaw -15 years of use - solid performance and reliable.

I have owned several mid-line Echo trimmers over the last twenty years and all have had starting / carb issues even after carb rebuilds and experimenting with higher octane gas / mixes.

This 223L starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time - a pleasant change. While this model has a relatively small engine by comparison to the commercial line - it's surprising powerful for a lightweight machine - it gets the job done quickly.

Very Powerful Trimmer with one defect
By Charles B.

I have had my 223L for about a month and have used it a few times. I am a homeowner with a large yard (about 2 acres) that has a lot of plant and flower beds--trees----sidewalks and driveway edges. Trimming usually takes me almost 2 hours in this hot Florida sun.
I purchased the 223L to replace 32cc trimmer that weighed in at about 15 pounds. The 223L is more powerful, weighs significantly less, and is a gas miser. I was wary of the small fuel tank--but it was enough to complete my work with no refills.

The head design prevents long grass and vines from wrapping around itself and jamming the trimmer---I never had to stop to remove debris from the head.

The only downside --again the only one I have is that the exhaust is venting through the top of the trimmer and that is very dangerous. In normal operation I can easily reach ground level without extending my arms. BUT if I have to extend my reach---it will always cause my right forearm to touch the exhaust and I will get a burn on my right arm. I now have to wear a forearm shield plus long sleeve shirt when I do trimming--and that sucks in 90 degree florida temps. The engineers at Husqvarna really blew this one------I note numerous right forearm burning complaints---perhaps Husqvarna will come out with some sort of retrofit fis because it is needed .
