Can this pump handle small debris in heavy rain and flooding with a 5 gallon basin?

Answer
That Honda WSP100 is a great pump but it's also a good sized pump and will definitely require a larger basin. That said, I would recommend a minimum 18" wide by 30" deep basin like the ones listed below. The larger the better as it will minimize the pump cycle rates. TOPP Polyethylene Sewage Basin (18"x 30") w/ 4" Inlet Grommet Model: B24001 TOPP Structual Foam Sewage Basin (18"x 30") w/ 4" Inlet Grommet Model: E3-24001

Jose, I am wanting to use this pump (Honda WSP100AA - 150 gpm) as a sump pump for mostly rainwater to pump water from the safe side (inside) of a floodwall to protect a commercial building. The concrete floodwall will be approximately 6' from the outside of the builing leaving a sidewalk access around the building. Would you recommend this pump for this application. Thanks.

Answer
Thank you for visiting Water Pumps Direct. The Honda WSP100AA is probably one of the best electric submersible pumps that you can buy. Since you are installing outdoors and there is the possibility of some small debris getting into the pump, the Honda or TSURUMI Trash pumps would be a good option for you. The main difference in the 2 brands are that the Honda pumps have a higher pumping capacity and an open bottom to the pump impeller and the Tsurumi pumps typically max out at 60 GPM and offers a bit more protection from larger debris getting into the pump inlet or impeller.
