Great Product & Service

I have always been a LawnBoy user all my life, and I finally wore out my last 2-stroke. The reviews on this Honda machine were great, and the engine is bombproof and will outlast the deck. I've only used it for approximately 6 hours, with many of those on relatively steep hills.
So far so good. I have always shied away from 4 strokes because of their supposed problems with oil starvation on steep hills. I am using synthetic oil, as recommended, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Good Mower, But Could Be Better
By Ken K.

Purchased 04/23/2020 |
Review Posted 09/29/2020
First of all, the Mowers Direct experience was excellent, from the easy-to-use website to the straightforward ordering process and commendable status notices about shipping and delivery. The mower was delivered promptly and in apparent good condition within its factory box despite minimal packing.
After having mowed my flat quarter-acre lawn all summer, I'm just not impressed by this push mower's uneven cut. It seemed as if the factory blade was dull right out of the box. I have raised and lowered the cutting level and yet, the lawn always ends up looking a bit shaggy due to a good number of bent, un-severed blades of grass. I've taken a rat tail knife sharpener to the leading edges of the blade several times to maximize the cut. The blade seems to be made of a softer steel than my old mower's blade.
It could be that the mower's large plastic wheels are knocking down grass before it can be cut, but that would indicate a different problem with the mower's design.
On the plus side -- so far -- it's started on the first pull as advertised.
I like other aspects of this model, particularly the longer handle and easy-to-adjust cutting level levers on each wheel. The deck is made of heavy gauge metal, although the rolled edges make it difficult to clear mulched grass.
The manual is much clearer and well-edited than the generic manuals typically provided with cheaper mowers made by competitors. This manual actually reveals specifics like how many ounces of new oil to add.
Still, this Honda cost me double what my last cheapie 21" push mower did. For the extra money, one would think Honda could have retained a separate oil drain plug standard on mowers in the good old days. Just like most modern competitors, Honda makes owners tip this mower on its side to change the oil to be completely fair, the manual does suggest buying a siphon as a less messy alternative. Still, it's an irritating way to do things.
The real test of whether the extra expense for this Honda push mower was worth it will come next spring when I try to get it started again after long winter hibernation.

This Honda Mower Upholds Honda's Great Reputation

I have started three times to mow my lawn. Each mow is required on one pull on the cord. The mower's deck has the ability to be adjusted up to 4". Just right for my grass. My lawn is happy, and so am I.

Just What I Wanted!
By Mark S.

Purchased 07/20/2020 |
Review Posted 08/13/2020
I pulled it out of the box, filled it with oil and gas, and it started on the second pull! It has been starting on the first pull ever since. It runs smoothly and quietly. It's easy to adjust the cutting height. I like this because it is NOT self-propelled, which makes it much easier to maneuver around obstacles and makes it much lighter.

Honda! Best Ever!

It arrived very fast. In my opinion, it is the best lawn mower made. I had an older one and it lasted 16 years. In fact, it still runs but the frame rusted because I live at the beach.

Honda Motors Keep Going
By David B.

It starts right out of the box. I had a Honda lawn mower at my old house but had to move and it stayed with the old house. That mower ran for over 10 years in Iowa, and the grass grows like crazy there. It ran great despite the fact that I never changed or added oil. I promise on this one to change the oil!
