Answer
Typically, you want to run a minimum 5 foot vertical head directly off the pump before you start your horizontal run. The reason is that the pump manufacturers design the pumps for this direct vertical lift and reducing or eliminating that head, puts more strain on the pump, which could equate to a shorter pump life. If you must run a minimum lift, distance and more lift, you are still really just counting all of the vertical head lift and the horizontal distance separately. As long as you are not exceeding the pump's rated capacity and piping is sized appropriately, you will be fine. As far as a maximum horizontal distance capability of this or any pump, that would depend on the discharge piping type & diameter and the pump used.
