standard splitter

Review Posted 02/17/2012
It is a great help as I am getting older and can't split as fast as I used to.
It wasn't much less than buying a splitter at a Big Box Store, but the quality is higher for sure. That makes it worth it.
This should be a help for the rest of my life. I split the cost of the splitter with a Neighbor so we will both benefit!

My Honda powered ls27cc splitter
By Robert

Review Posted 01/20/2012
I received my splitter about 2 weeks ago. The trailor that delivered it could not back up my driveway so we loaded it into the back of my pickup and I assembled it in the pickup bed and got it on the ground with ramps and my loader tractor. The only damage I found on the unit was a crease in the honda's muffler cover which was very minor.
The splitter was fully filled with oil and ready to go after adding gas. I have split approximately one cord of heavy red oak to date...18 to 25 inch diameter and very green. The vertical feature is really nice and very quick.
The splitter will come to a stop when encountering big knots but will then power right on through. Everything about this machine reeks of quality.
I am well pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend Log Splitters Direct to any one. I particulary liked the comparing of three splitters in the good, better, best catagory's and the reason for each by their splitter expert.
I plan on ordering the splitter cover as my next purchase.

Avoid the Honda engine
By Na

I have another brand of log splitter with this same Honda engine. BEWARE - the Honda is sales tool. Buy the alternate engine, preferably a Briggs, Kawasaki, or anything else. The Honda will work well for a few years and then fail miserably because of its "effective high compression ratio" which causes detonation issues as the engine ages - catastrophic and difficult to diagnose for a small engine. I have had 3 Honda powered machines fail prematurely because of this basic engine design flaw. I replaced the Honda on my log splitter with a Briggs and have had no problems since.

Long Time shopping for best deal
By Dennis

Surprised to see the splitter assembled and full of engine oil and hydraulic fluid. Engine in advertised photo was a horizonal shaft but mine a vertical shaft.
Has split everything I have thrown at it. Automatic return doesn't stay in return mode all the time.Overall happy with purchase.

The Cub Cadet is an excellent logsplitter. Able to split bigger logs in the horizontal position than specs say.

look no more, this is it! could split an atom if it were small enough, lots of power, well engineered, one pull start, top shelf splitter!
I would also like to thank the guys at the warehouse in Bolingbrook for thier friendly service ,helping me load the 27-ton splitter into my Dodge Ram.
A VERY FINE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS.

Life just got easier-

With high energy costs I cut and split fire wood to feed a sometimes very hungry woodstove.
This unit so far, exceeds all my expectations in quality-performance and power. It was shipped in an almost completely assembled stage- has far higher quality parts than similar big box store models (metal fenders,a boat trailer like wheeled jack stand, light kit for towing to name a few).
It appears it will handle the test of time well ! Highly doubtful there is a better unit out there for the money..

Awesome splitter

From start to finish, this splitter is tops.
It arrived, mostly assembled in a wood crate. Even already had hydraulic fluid added!
Removing from crate and assembly took less than an hour.
Honda engine starts like a charm -- and runs so smoothly.
The splitter's power is absolutely amazing, cutting through my pine logs like butter. I just finished splitting logs from an old stand tree -- massive diameter. No problems.
It's still early, of course, but I am completely satisfied -- and know my firewood splitting next year will be MUCH faster and easier with this baby at my side.
