He loves it!

I bought this model for my boyfriend and he loves it. So far so good! The Honda engine was the seller for me after a lot of on line research to educate myself on wood splitters and small engines. Starts on first crank! Delivery was especially smooth the company couldn't have been more helpful.

Great machine

All my life (quite long by now) I was paranoid by gas garden tools. Last year I had cut down 12 massive trees on my property. I was about to buy electric log splitter, but my tree guys talked me out of it and advised me how strong machine I should buy putting importance to Honda engine. I listened to their advice and I could not be happier.
I keep Log Splitter log to remind me when is oil change time and when comes time for hydraulic oil to replace. Each time after few months of break engine motor started on the first pull. When I forgot to pull out a choke, it was second pull. In vertical position machine split without hesitating 3 feet dia maple logs (so big and heavy, I needed a helper to shift them under the splitter). All last winter I heated house with my own wood and EPA fireplace. What I saved on #2 oil for heating paid for my log splitter.

Nice machine

Easy to assemble, Honda engine started on 2nd pull. Have only used it for one day but splits everything I have put in it with ease.
Appears solid and well built, hydraulic lines nicely protected by metal coil liner. The choke lever seems pretty flimsy but that is probably trivial. Overall appears worth the price.

1st power splitter

I heat with wood exclusively.
I've only had the splitter set up for a day and haven't used it much yet. It does seem to have more than enough power to split the knotty Fir that I tried in it first.
The only draw back I see so far is that the engine needs to be guarded to keep the split wood from falling on top of it while in the horizontal position. That knotty piece stuck to the wedge and fell onto the top of the engine when I retracted the ram. No damage, but the potential to break the starter housing is very real. I will be fabricating a shield to protect it from falling wood.
Otherwise it looks very well built and I have no doubt it will serve its purpose effectively.

Great Splitter!

I've had my splitter a little over two years now and couldn't be happier that I bought the Cub Cadet. The Honda engine was one of the most important considerations to me when I chose this particular splitter. It never fails to start on the first or second pull and provides more than enough power for most splitting applications.
For very large logs I turn the splitter vertical and quarter the logs before returning to the horizontal position to finish splitting. This splitter as with most others allows you to control with ease the size of the final finished pieces of wood.
Unlike other splitters I considered the Honda engine on this splitter has no throttle control. It runs wide open all the time and is very loud. That is really my only minor complaint about the splitter. I recommend this splitter without reservation.

I purchased this splitter based on name and price. I got it and went right to work splitting a half cord of Choke Cherry. This wood was stringy and twisted. The splitter made easy work of it. I used the vertical setting to 1/4 the 2 foot rounds. Then horizontal from there. It was easy to transfer positions. Overall I'm happy with this splitter. My 2 issues are the gas tank should be bigger and the high pressure hose can get caught under the hydraulic cylinder when changing position from vertical.
